I was surprised to see steel winch cable as a semi worthless mod. steel vs. synthetic cable is like synthetic vs non synthetic people will argue over the topic forever with no real outcome of whats better.

Quite honestly, I've never heard anyone in CO even bother arguing the use of steel.
Weight & safety... synthetic ;)

btw, my only useless mod, putting on longer shocks because I "lifted" a torsion bar vehicle... Yeah, I could have done the math on that one, wasn't thinking clearly.
Having metal hit metal made that one an obvious less than ideal mod.

The one thing I like about synthetic is if It brakes it doesn't snap back like steel . Oh and it won't get sharp barbs like steel , I just wonder about it rotting .

Synth line floats too. It also shaves 25 pounds of the nose-weight. (more if you swap the steel roller fairlead for an alum. hawes version).

I've had several synth lines and also hang out with numerous guys that use them. I was skeptical at first but, after five or six years of using them...I have never had a failure, (then again, I never had a steel line failure either). But my point is...there are many reasons to use synth, and very few to not use it. The rumors of drum-heat or UV exposure effecting its strength, is nothing but that. So is the mud and sand wearing them out. No doubt they get ugly over time but, I don't have a winch on my rig to look pretty anyway. The only real issue I have seen personally is "chafing" and that has more to do with the user than any fault of the product.

Worthless/useless mods

1) Rancho 9000 shocks
2) Rancho 9000 shocks
3) Rancho 9000 shocks - seriously, run away from them
4) several LED lights that were not "floods"
5) LED tail lights (the first set) because they didn't have side-markers and that is illegal
6) Toyo AT tires (seriously, only MTs work here)
7) all tires before 315s
8) I know this might get me in trouble, but PC tune - it didn't do anything for me but make it shift harder
9) LED headlights

best mods, though
1) differential bushing
2) e-locker for the front
3) hidden winch
4) side LED lights - I use them all the time from silly things like checking my mail at night to being able to see around corners at night
5) dual batteries
6) solid roof rack
7) overload springs to lift the rear
8) rock sliders
9) on-board air compressor
10) platform in the cargo area
11) brush guard
12) upgrading the driving lights to fog lights (yellow)... honestly, I feel stupid for not doing the update before
13) back up flood lights
14) rewiring the lockers to work any time

meh updates
1) LED interior lights
2) rock lights
3) new wheels
4) tinted front windows
5) HAM radio .... thought I'd use it, but mostly use it for weather checking
6) front light bar

Agree with the pcm tune, mine shifts harder than stock. Otherwise I dont really feel a power increase

To be honest, I only felt the difference with PCM when I had a full setup.. Airdoc, header & performance cat back.

I'm back to stock now & apart from subtle backfire while revving, the tune is very much useless.

The one mod that always makes me cringe (Only when someone asks) is the hood handles..but I love them so idc. Plus I paid 50$ new for mine. I really do hate when people ask what they are for though, I have no good answer aside from aesthetics.

The oem roof lights are garbage, but I've built brackets to fit LED flood housings up there, I just need to re order them.

The oem roof lights are the most worthless piece of $$$$ on my 06 H3. It came like that when I bought the truck (its standard on 06 models only in this country). Whenever I went wheeling in the desert at night, I would have to continously wipe my windshield while driving in order to use those. Offcourse after a min Id run out of wiper fluid and then end up switching off those lights coz all the sand on the windshield turns into christmass lights! Offcourse, a year later they become an orchestra with whistling, flapping and whatevet noise you can imagine.
