Since you said your hub to fender in the front was 23 you want it at like 26. Thats how rancho is...maybe 05 mudiak can attest to the tuff country hub to fender recommendation but I assume its the same seeing they are both 4in lifts. After cranking them make sure that your halfshafts are still level! You want them to look like this:

Not like this: This is exaggerated seeing he is flexed out but if everything is angled like this then you went too far.

Chris, here is how my CVs are right now... As you can see, I have a lot of room to go up. They're very low.

I'll have the install shop do it with power tools! :) These rear springs not working really f*d up the lift. Hoping Monday that they will be able to help me sort things out.

Funny thing is, even as it is, the truck is still noticeably higher than it was pre-lift. I hope to get everything to how it should be ASAP.

that is really low. Hopefully they can have you up and running the way you should be soon. Now that I just went out and checked maybe my CVs are a little high. I guess I could come down a little, but I am only at 26". The instructions recommended 26-26.5 so I should be good...I hope. I think youd have to be around 25" in the front to have level half shafts

Yeah, so I definitely see that the front needs to come up...but I cannot really do that until the rear is solved. Thank you all for the photos and help on my questions. We'll get Barney right eventually! :)

I'm doing my best to stay positive, as this is definitely irking me! Give me strength! :giggle:

I concur. Might as well make them level even if you dont like the looks of the rear sagging at the moment.

Well, I am driving >30 miles/week right now, so I'm not tearing the CVs apart by any means. I'd like to get the rear figured out and bring it all up at once -- it also means one less trip to the shop in town.

UPDATE:

Dang, Todd at Boosted Parts is great. He's getting me another set of springs out tomorrow, as TC suggested that mine may have been defective.

Question: I will likely be installing these leaf springs with an autobody-savvy buddy of mine in order to avoid labor costs. (His old man owns a shop and so we'll have access to tools.) Is there anything I need to know/do before I do this? Measurements, etc?

Also, say these new add-a-leaves return the same result...let's say the results are really caused by the difference in an H3 and H3T. (Who knows?) Can I use both pairs of add-a-leaves to achieve a higher lift? You know, sort of double-up? It makes sense in my head...but maybe not in real life, though. :)

Fire away, H4Oans!

UPDATE

My new leaves are in and I'm set to have the "face lift" work done on the 20th. The plan is to stack the two pairs of add-a-leaves in there to raise the truck up. I don't know if I really did just get a bad set or if the rear of the 3T w/ slantback is heavier than the 3 SUV which is causing some compression of the leaves -- either way, two pairs of add-a-leaves should do the trick on the rear. Then, it's an easy adjustment to the t-bars to bring the front end up.

Does this sound reasonable?

Just so I know exact numbers to give the tech: I want to bring the front up and rear up to around 26-26.5" (measured from the center of the center cap to the lip of the fender) in the front and rear.
(Is that correct, Chris?) :) I'm not sure if my having 33" tires versus 35" tires would made any difference in these numbers...probably not, I would assume.

After that, hopefully we should be good and up to the height it's supposed to be.

Doesn't matter on tire size...the tires could be 40s or 32's and the hub to fender will be the same...good luck fitting 40s though :)

26 to 26.5 is the magic #

If they aligned it after the lift they need to realign it. I would say at no charge seeing the screwed up on the front

40s? Why stop there!? :hans:

Thanks for the info, bud. I appreciate it. I'm sort of paranoid now because I want my Barney to be the biggest, baddest dino he can be.

Oh yeah, they already told me they'd do the alignment and all of that on the house. They are good guys at this little mom-and-pop shop near campus. (Thankfully!)

Sorry I am so late in mu input here.

For the rear add a leafs mine also only gave me about 1.5" of left I called TC and they said they might have sent the wrong add a leaf. That they could send me a new one but I didn't take them up on the offer. I scored a new set of Ranch springs from Ridge Demon for a good price. Those packs also didn't give me 4" of lift still sit lower in the back but it came up alot from just the add a leaf. I am thinking about addind the TC add a leaf to the Rancho packs and see what that does.

Hans after I installed the lift and leveled the truck my front CV's looked just like your the wheel end of the cv was higher thean the diff end (if that makes sense) Now my vc's are level but the rear is still a tad lower than the front with the Rancho springs but alot better than it was

Thanks for chiming in, Jeff!

It's interesting to hear that your add-a-leaves only gave an inch and change of lift as well... Hopefully by stacking the 2 sets we can achieve the desired (and advertised) amount of lift. It's sort of a let down that TC would advertise 3" of rear lift and only achieve half of that. Then again, 06 H3 has had troubles with the rear end with the Rancho springs, so it might be an overall "weak link" that these lift kits all have.

Once I double-up the add-a-leaves and bring the front end up, we should be golden. (Fingers crossed!)

I will be happy to keep you all posted! :)

I don't understand buying a "lift" kit that does not lift the rear without adding an "add a leaf kit" to it. Looks like you would be better off just having the stockers rearched to achieve the desired height or if necessary actually add a leaf spring to the pack that will get it up and keep it up.
"It's important once you get it up, to keep it up" Hunner circa 2012
that of course applies to other things in life as well.:shifty:

So true.

I hear you on the whole add-a-leaf debacle. It's silly, but looks like we gotta finish what we started with this lift!
