I did 1/3 of an impossible task today (which is technically 50% of the task).... I got my hands on component box 'one' of a Rancho lift kit. It includes the front cross member, rear crossmember, torsion bar relocators, bushings, drop brackets, skid plate, and all the small stuff like fasteners. It does not, however, include knuckles or leaf springs. I figure leaf springs are easy, but the knuckles are the other 50% of my impossible task. Someone here must have bought those Rancho knuckles on Denver craigslist last summer, but they are being quiet about it. I guess I need to start looking out for 'em. Or that person can contact me.

Very nice find. I saw someone else searching for the knuckles also.

Nice find! Looks like there is another guy, probably an h4o member looking for them as well: (unless that is you) https://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/pts/d/wanted-hummer-h3-knuckles/6507769371.html
I will keep my eyes open for them since I am always on craigslist and used stuff on ebay, but I have yet to come across them besides that junk yard white lifted h3 in Tennessee that another h4o member found.

Mounted a case up on the roof rack for the gear I aways have with me but always seem to be getting in the way.

Use searchtempest. It’s Craigslist on steroids. You’ll be able to search the entire US.

Enlighten me. What happens next year?

Maybe a deal gets worked out to buy the patent/legal rights to produce the rancho? I remember that some forum members were in conversation with rancho about purchasing the rights to the lift kit for 50k a while ago, but nothing has come of it yet

Yep, that would be me. I posted a wanted ad for knuckles in a few cities, once I knew I was getting the component box. I called that place in TN, and they are apparently putting that lift kit on a different H3, or so the guy told me. If you run across any knuckles, feel free to give me a heads up.

Dang, that is a rare find. Springs can be built easy enough but the knuckles might take years to find.

I was wondering if this had been explored. Anyone know if this was true and if so where it ended up? If not, I’ll be in on the bidding war for Rascols.

Now I feel bad for wanting to take mine off, slap on some aggressive 33 MT's on stock wheels, shed a few hundred pounds and restore the powerband.

Just out of curiosity, how do the knuckles differ so much from something like the Colorado which uses a very similar suspension. It would be nice to adapt a kit off a different truck to work on the h3

It's funny you say that, I have been thinking along those lines, just the only difference being I would keep my 37's and put a body lift on it...

I've done some investigating into Silverado 1500 / Colorado lift kits to see if they are close enough to adapt. Colorado uses the same Rancho front crossmember, but the knuckles would not work. Silverado ('99-'07, '08-'14, '2015+) knuckles are closer, as I think the hubs would work, but the LCA & UCA mounting locations to the knuckle are a little different and would push the wheel centerline rearward (or maybe forward, I can't remember). You'd need Silverado brakes too.

I was just going to throw on a 1" Daystar body lift, before I stumbled across the Rancho parts. What would be your reasoning for taking off the Rancho?

I feel it causes more issues then benefits... the issues I am referring to are related to suspension geometry and driveline parts due to throwing out angles

Always wondered what custom fabbing a Silverado/Colorado lift kit would cost in comparison to going sas
And how hard it would really be to swap h3 components (brakes) etc to a kit
Very interesting

Im hoping after I install my body lift I'll be a little happier with the height, I just wish I could go 2-3" higher in the front to allow for a soa in the rear

Im kinda regretting cranking the torsion bars and thinking about a body lift myself. I may bring it down a little lower and actually go with 35s when these 33s wear out. I'd love to have a lift but I want my T to last.

As long as ur cranked to 23.5 hub to fender no need to worry about parts.
I have 2 vehicles cranked and apart from replacing ball joints and bushings (and I blame the heat and my continous desert offroad trips for those) I dont have anything majure.

Try a 2" body lift instead of 1". Its almost the same work
