H3 Took the leap on the torsion bar lift

I see.... im placing the order for bilsteins tomorrow and was looking at the set from trailduty with the bumpstops... I also found a full set without them from another place.... I used hockey pucks stacked below the rear stops on my old liberty... I wonder if those cut down to size would hold up on the LCAs....

FWIW- while doing some maintenance last night, I checked on the condition of the factory dampeners where they contact the rubber blocks I installed as spacers. The dampeners and surface of the rubber show no signs of wear after about a month after install. The rubber is slightly depressed due to constant pressure, but looks like it's holding up good thus far. The ride is much improved compared to having a 3/8" gap after lift.

Softer than a puck and softer than the dampener. I figured I'd have the spacer be the sacrificial anode, so-to-speak.
If I used anyting harder than the dampener, I'd make sure it was completely non-abrasive, like aluminum or steel.
Although... that being said, the lower control arm itself isn't completely smooth and it surely gets road sand and salt between it and the dampners and they haven't been affected in 6 years.

I just got my hummer and had the dealer put in new ones. I may try something like that sin e I ordered the shocks without the extended stops.

I didn't try the Trail Duty extended on this vehicle, but everything I read up on them suggests they ride rougher.
And of all the lifts I've installed on Jeeps over the years, the same holds true, when you replace rubber bushings with a single stage poly replacement, the ride is always negatively affected. Poly holds up well, but it is stiff.

Well I have a appointment to drop the H3 off for a alignment. But I also got approved for a tires plus credit card. Dangit I see 35's in my future too if they are in stock.....

Well the decision was made, no 35's for me. Mainly because I don't need them enough to justify the cost. But I am getting a set of Destination AT's installed 285's and a alignment too.

Yea I agree. But I don't have the need for 35" tires right now. The 33" will do anything I need to do.

Thanks, wouldn't ya know it I put on 33s and then see a H3 with 35s on it. Looks awesome with 35s I just didn't "need" them lol.

Oh I wanted them , but its funny enough to watch my 5' wife climb in the H3 and I wanted to sleep in my bed and not on the couch for a week.

Ok so going to do this tomorrow. By leveling it I don't need new shocks right? Just the spacer thingy? I have an alignment apt tomorrow afternoon and get up before it gets hot and crank the torsion bars. Wish me luck.

Not sure which spacer thing your talking about? There's one that will bolt on the end of the shock which makes the shock longer..... Or you can use the "hunner nut trick" by putting a 1/2" nut at the top. I'd make sure you drive it a bunch if your appt is this afternoon. Bounce it around so it settles.... It may take a few adjustments.... The nut trick gives you some compensation but the brackets at the bottom give you more.... I found that my truck has those but I'll be getting my extended bilsteins from the brown Santa today.
