I am all for it. Maybe we should develop a scoring system so those that do not have the funds to buy the fancy stuff can make up for it with something like functionality.

Something would be nice to highlight everyone's mods and ideas. I feel sorry for Recon. At least I got the banner for a month, he didn't even get that.... sux.
That's part of the beauty of a Truck of the Month. Nobody feel like they have to shell out a bunch of money to win votes. Vehicles would be chosen by the H4O staff based on functionality and use. Hell some of the most used trucks on this site don't have thousands and thousands of dollars worth of add ons.

It's just been one of my favorite things about the forum and I'd hate to see it go.
If that was a chosen path, I would find a way to integrate the Garage into the picture. Would bring the availabilty of the Garage to the minds of members and further encourage use of the feature. There would still be some subjectiveness in chosing a user's vehicle, but data could be looked at such as how many views the user's garage has, photos included, etc. Would essentially be a "this was the hot vehicle in the garage the previous month" thing. It'd simply identify the member, maybe give them a chance to field questions about the build, rant about something that didn't frickin' work, etc. Hell, I dunno. Just popped in my head.
Poor guy, at least he can say he's the reigning ROTM winner forever.

This is a new forum and not like what
we have seen before. If we have ROTM again, I would be game. Just nice to see what everyone else has done to their rig and take pride on it.

Agreed (again... which is no fun) but I see what he is getting at. ROTM essentially exist on every automotive forum on the net. I'd say it is played out as much as Rockstar wheels. There really isn't much to ROTM and as such there is very little to really change to make it stand out. On the last forum, the issue came up and we went with the Bracket Idea (my idea!) and it changed nothing (surprise). As mentioned above, I think the Featured Truck of the Month would simplify things and really eliminate the politics, people getting butt hurt, etc. Want to be featured?! It's simple, just maintain your garage, document your build as best as possible and let the results speak for itself in attention and views. Get chosen for the Featured truck, it's like getting chosen for a magazine that month and you get to elaborate on the build, the details, the why it was done that way , etc. Essentially what Recon did on his ROTM thread as it was extremely organized and informational without trying to be a campaign.

You know, Hollywood has a good point. Maybe we could do some kind of class (H1s, H2s, H3s) or have several trucks featured. That way it would have the feel of ROTM without the competition.
I'd still leave it at one a month. Basically take Playboy and the Centerfold and translate that to the H40 "Featured Ride." Staff could scour the Garage at the end of the month, debate which truck, contact the owner and get some pics, article style info, etc. Keeping it to one would eliminate some excess, while at the same time drag the process out a little so you don't run out and have to turn to a stock truck which just rolled off the used car lot or a picture of my garage and the boxes of Hutchinson's and other parts. (Guess the same as with Mark HAHA I kid I kid!)

Respectfully disagree. I think a month is a long time to look at one truck. Why not have a truck featured every two weeks? That'd keep the interest up and keep the flow moving some. We'd get to look at more than just 12 rigs a year. Eliminate the competition, since that causes the most conflict, and in some cases bad feelings between members.

Featured Ride of the Month sounds like a great idea! Like M22 said, tons of guys/gals out there that wheel the piss out of their rigs and don't have anything but rock rails, ucp and different tires! Let's let the "everyday guy/gal" get some Featured Ride time!
That's the thing. The fewer (12) the better. The more you add the less it means. Like giving every kid a trophy in Little League or Pop Warner so it makes them feel better. Monthly, it breaks it up and givers owners a month to fix up their Garage if they wanna standout and be featured. You add too many, even at 24, and you might as well just browse the "Builds" forum and pick in your mind your favorite. I think the more you do it, the less interest there will be as it becomes "just another thing." Plus, you don't want to oversaturate the site with Featured Trucks. You do that, then you start having to feature trucks which pretty much offer nothing just because you ran out of possibles.

I think it would be nice if the setting of the photo was part of the basis for judging.
Does the photo convey the sprit of Hummer?
An impressive setting is much better than a driveway.

I was never a fan of the ROTM. Because I was staff I never participated because I felt that staff shouldn't be in competition with the members and that ROTM was for the members. I like the featured truck of the month( have suggested it several times in the past ) because it allows for the use of much more criteria, doesn't pit members against each other, and doesn't require a month of frenzied activity and effort. I agree with many of the comments in this thread. Some of the most used trucks on the forum are not heavily modded but the members wheel them extensively. I think those owners/ trucks deserve a little time in the spotlight also. Whichever way the forum members prefer is ok by me.
Exactly what I was getting at. Would (1) utilize a feature of the board; the Garage, forcing it's use and (2) with only twelve you actually get trucks which should be featured. I'm sure it would get some butthurt but the featured ride is representative of the forum and the brand as a whole. You do a feature every other week and you are going to run out of trucks which are worthy and diminish the meaning. Once that happens, it means nothing and you end up featuring rides like Dee's or Safari's which do nothing to further the Hummer cause and only cause one to laugh. It needs to be the total package; a truck tastefully suited to the user's purpose, used in that purpose, and following form over function. Follow that and keep it at 12 and you have a product of the forum which means something, educates members, rewards the owners for their work, while showcasing the forum.
