Welcome to H4O!

Take the time to rad your owners manual about how the traction control system operates and then go out and test it and learn how to use it. You will be able to do plenty of technical off-roading without a rear locker. Longer term I would recommend getting a locking rear diff.

welcome. I did not use my lockers often but a rear locker could be handy. once you learn your truck you will be able to do a lot of things you never thought would be possible. if you like rocks, get UCP and sliders, or build them. we go to hidden falls adventure park in marble fall quite often. I think there are few o us that are willing to wheel anytime and we have talked about going to Huntsville soon. just le us know when you want to go. I need to break in my new raptor!

Welcome to the forum.

It is too bad you're T doesn't have front and rear lockers, they help if you want to wheel it and crawl over rocks. Also, it is usually cheaper to buy a T with lockers than to add them.

As far at the upgrades, I love my Snugtop Slantback topper. It allows me to lock gear in the back so I don't have to worry about it running away. I don't like the looks of the ARB bumper. Someone once said the ARB bumpers make everything look like a Toyota. I have to agree. I just don't like the looks or the weight.

If you're want performance (acceleration) then don't increase tire size. If you want to go rock crawling then bigger tires help. You will quickly discover that everything involves balancing compromises. OTOH, the a stock H3T can handle a lot of trails with 32" wheels.

Another thing to watch carefully is weight. Rock rails, SlantBacks, winch bumpers, spare tire swing gates, larger tires, etc all add weight fast. Pretty soon you're exceeding the recommended weight limit and acceleration and MPG goes down.

Hi Travis. Welcome to the group. I grew up in Houston but live in North Carolina now. Dad was from Houston. There's a guy on the forums here that designs avatars off of a pic of your truck. Don't remember who it was, but someone will chime in soon enough. Enjoy your new truck!

What all is there. What do I need to start with the group. I may bring my wife as a get away weekend there and I have no idea what to expect at these events.

Camping? And survival stuff suggestions? What would the schedule and event last. I have a stock truck but it will slowly become a beast!

Welcome! My 06 H3 has an extra button on the 4 by 4 controls that you can engage when you turn off the sability control and put it into 4 low. The button says it locks the tear axel up to 30 mph. Don't all H3 have this?
