I run all 3 , FRS,CB and HAM this way I've covered all of the bases . Each one has a very good use in its own way . If you are on a budget you can get all 3 for under $200.00 bucks . And by having all 3 you also now have a back up to your back up. I would say your best bet is to get a ham lic , this way when the big one hits you still have communication with the outside world.

I've been out with groups with and without CBs and I will say WITH was much better. Whatever you choose for communication is gonna be way better than sticking your head out the window or getting out every 5 min.
