Shift fork inside the t-case is worn, and it has slipped back into 4HI-street mode. Without a driveshaft…it will just sit and spin.
Turn the truck off in neutral, push it forward 4 or 5 feet. Start it again, and try the 4HI-lock mode. It will usually go into gear and allow you to limp it...
Eaton denies ALL knowledge of the front 7.6IFS locker. They do not sell them. They do not sell parts for them. GM sells some parts but, info and inventory are sketchy at best. They were optional in 09-10 only, when Hummer already had one foot in the grave. It’s hard to find anyone at GM to...
I got one. 2009 cast iron, 4:10, E-locker, 150k miles. No issues whatsoever, plug & play….$950 plus shipping.
Also have a urethane bushing kit for it…$90.
Also have a 2nd design crossmember…$100.
Also have gobs of IFS parts leftover from numerous SAS projects.
Post these on some other forums if you want more action. They fit Toyotas (FJ Cruisers, Tacomas), older GM 1/2t trucks (K5 Blazers), and full size Jeeps (Wagoneers). Lots of guys wheeling 6-lug rigs and looking for wheels…but they would never see them here.
You probably have t-case issues as well. Even with proper maintenance and no abuse, most plastic shift forks will begin to fail at 150k miles. Failing shift fork symptoms are often masked by the full time 4wd. You might notice some binding or lazy shifting between modes but, rarely will you...
Yes. Fix. Repair. Replace. Whatever. I keep most of the parts in stock to fix the stock IFS front diff. I also get used ones quite frequently.
If it is so bad it won't hold fluid...I would say that's an 8 or 9 on the f'd up scale. The pinion gear is ground down to nothing, and the...
Battery cables. Multiple codes is often a result of a bad ground. The cable ends (especially in 06-07) are notorious. Might not be the issue but if it has factory clamps…they are now 15+ years old. They sucked when they were brand new! Regardless of the codes…probably the easiest and...
Sounds like the front diff is smoked...or possibly a CV shaft. Drain the fluid and look for chunks or shavings on the magnetic drain plug.
The H3 is a full-time 4WD, and therefore both driveshafts spin all the time. In 4WD-Street mode, the transfer case will send the power to axle with the...
Grab some $65 Colorado/Canyon add-a-leafs. Cheap and easy fix for saggy springs. Airbags are nice too, however I have only ever installed them with a spring-over mod. I'm sure they would work with stock spring-under arrangement but, I haven't personally done that.
On the overheating...
I just got delivery of (3) 2WD kits. I'm going install these in my SASH3 and a couple upcoming builds...
These come with the new solid 2WD coupler, (replaces the sun/planetary 4WD basket), a new aluminum shift fork, and two mainshaft bushings. I will probably install a new chain as well.
UPDATE
Its been a couple weeks since all this went down. The problem would come & go with no warning, and every time it happened I would have to un-plug the tumbler solenoid to turn the ignition off, and release the key.
On a hunch, I purchased a used 80k mile shifter assembly from a wrecked...
It magically fixed itself. Started the truck…ran it for five minutes. Now the passlock light is off and the shifter locks into PARK position, and releases with the brake pedal…just like it’s supposed to. Weird.
It’s worth mentioning that I was doing work inside the console. I did press the...
