Eff.... I guess I'm staying home for Easter, I separated my AC connection in my shoulder, no movement in my shoulder for a week or two. So the Hummer won't be ready in time.

Aww lame! Sorry to hear that. Is that the ARB Simpson 2 or 3? Post up your thoughts when you get to use it! Can't wait to pick up my CVT!

Yeah it sucks. The money I was going to spend now goes towards ER bills. It's the Simpson 3, it's pretty nice, it's my first RTT, so I won't have much to compare it to.

My last camp setup was a 2007 Duramax crewcab, 30' fifth wheel trailer, and it was awesome. The reason of selling the Duramax and the 5th wheel was it took way to long to get ready to go camping, and to get unready when coming back, plus it was really expensive. So the H3 cut my monthly payments in half of the Duramax, and the RTT on an expo trailer should be a lot easier to get ready and go camping on short notice.

Well I am starting to get use of my left arm again. So I got a little bit of free time after work to do some light duty stuff.

I needed to finish wiring in my Upfitter switches that I put on my dash for my roof lights.

Disclaimer* this may get boring, and if you read this you may wish for your time reimbursed. I hereby state that these next pictures finishing out this post are mainly for my use only so I can reference back to how I did the wires in case I ever need to make adjustments! Also, if anyone wants to wire in a set of upfitter switches, this may be of use to you too.

I started with my factory harness that I got from the dealership, if you don't remember, it looks like this, and has relays built in. (Switches 1 & 2 are 30 amp relays, switches 3 & 4 are 15 amp relays; I do wish they were all 4 rated to 30 amps)

5nd7.jpg

That big grey plug right in the center of the harness plugged into the rest of the wiring harness that came in a 2013 F-350, which I do not own, so I do not have the other side to that plug, so I cut it off and I crimped and soldered some weatherpack terminals on to the ends of the newly cut wires. I twist the purple wire (hot when key on/acc/run) and the purple/grey wire (to dash illumination lights/dimmer switch (on with headlights, to illuminate the tips of the switches when the switch is turned on)) together because I will just have the tips of the switches be lit to full brightness, no need to dim them.

And inserted them into the weatherpack connector. In all the weatherpack connectors, I have spot (A) as switch #1, spot (B) as switch #2, (C)-#3, (D)-#4, and (E) will be key-on/acc/run. (F) will be left spare for 12v to my CB radio.

This is the side that goes into the Ford harness. (Wire colors and sizes are Ford OEM)

And this is the side that will go to my fuse block under my hood. These are the wires that flow through the Ford relays and direct power to the lights themselves. The only wire cable I could find locally at the time that would work was 12ga, (7) wire trailer cable. 12ga should be overkill, but should work.

and finally did the same thing to the wires that come out of the Ford relays to power the lights, using a 4-wire weatherpack connector.

and finally here is a wiring diagram, you can see that I tried to match my relay-feed wires (the 7-wire trailer cable) to the wires colors coming out of the relays. I have yellow to yellow (switch 1), green to green/brown (switch 2), blue to purple/green (switch 3, closest colors I had) and brown to brown (switch 4). Should make checking fuses really easy. White wil be used as a ground wire.

Just trying to go for a safe and clean-looking wiring job.

You know, Ford backwards is Driver Returns On Foot? I hope those Ford switches don't impart that onto your 3.

nice floor, but why do you have two different shades of carpet (stairs/floor)?

Or that he fixes or repairs daily...

I hope you got a free dog with that, so you have a friend to walk home with lol...

Jk... I do like the cleanliness of it... and it is legal in your state to take doors off?

And yeah you don't get bothered here about doorless, if you have a mirror still. I actually just pulled the door off because I had to realign the hinge on the A pillar, I did put the door back on. But when it's in the dead of summer I'll likely take them off and probably whip up some tube doors. As long as I can come up with a way to keep my radio from getting jacked.

Xm has the portable radios on deal going on I'm thinking on getting one so I can get rid of TNT factory one and mount my cb radio in place of my navigation...as well I thought that the H3 Stereos weren't compatible with other vehicles ??

Need some opinions.

I bought a couple sticks of aluminum tubing today to start a roof rack build. I know 1¾" might kinda look goofy being that big around, but I think it will look good when I get my other tube work done.

Now that I am wrapping up my wiring for my off-road lights, I need to make up my mind on placement, and that's where I need opinions. This is kinda what I'm thinking.

20" light bar on the hood pod (will be getting either a fiberglass or metal "cover" molded around it to tie it in.
(2) duallys at the bottom of the A-pillars pointed at the ditches/shoulder of the road
(2) 6"x7"s on the roof rack.

I think right now the two 6x7's look a little weird up top but I think that is just because they don't have the roof rack surrounding them.

I have some other light bars and duallys but they are for the sides and the rear, so what you see is what will be on the front. If you can come up with better locations let me know and I'll move them and take a picture to see what it might look like.

I realize probably just a 50" light bar above the windshield would look best. But these are what I have.

I don't really want any lights mounted in the bumper/below the grille line as they would be subjected to mud.

Or combo three, d2's on the "air intake caps" light bar centred and then the two bigger bars off in each corner

The reason I like #1 is because that is the least likely to have hood glare. If I need to paint or wrap my hood in flat-black vinyl to reduce glare I will though.

Also the lights are more spread out that way, and I kind of like the look/idea/uniqueness of the hood pod.

Well then looks like you answered your own question....

It's kinda like the feeling you sometimes get when you go to flip a coin for something you can't decide on, and there is that moment when the coin is in mid air that you realize you want it to land on one side more then the other.... I usually just pretend it landed on that side and call it a day
