I got some confirmation today from a friend of mine that works for GM. My friend said that the computer mapping of this vehicle is done and in the production computer systems. This usually indicates its going to production but it doesn't indicate a 100 percent certainty for production. More to come I guess.

If GM were going to be successful with a relaunch into the 4x4 world the concept version of the HX/H4 would be the ticket...provided they stayed dead on the concept version.

I'm sure IF it were to happen it will be a re-badged Colorado/Canyon. They are only coming out with 2 wheelbase models so they would have to make a 3rd to accommodate the H4. GM's only shinning moment was when the H3 came out with the Adventure package specific to the H3. Pretty much everything else was cross branded with the TB/Envoy.

Everything is speculation of course, but I really hope you are wrong:

An interesting conversation I had with a GMC designer this past week indicates that while the body might be cold, the spirit of the Hummer is far from dead. In fact, GMC is currently in the process of putting together an off-road-oriented model that will follow in the Hummer's foot steps and go after the same market as stalwarts like the Jeep Wrangler. This won't be merely a gussied-up Terrain with some skid plates and a lift kit: we're talking an entirely new vehicle that is purpose built to tackle the rough stuff.

Who knows when, or if, or what the final product will really be but at least there is a small glimmer of hope that it will not be a re-badged Colorado/Canyon/Terrain/Tahoe/etc... The H4 or Hx concept does seem like a good starting point, mostly because the concept already exists and it seems to meet the Jeep Wrangler target market, but who knows. This new vehicle idea may be completely different. I just hope GM isn't too gun shy to come out with something aggressive, exciting and different.

But I like the size of my H3 which only had Hummer embossed in the plastic grill surround. What else was Hummer?
They could still use the Colorado/Canyon platform with the minor frame additions.

I saw a Taho just yesterday jacked up modestly and looked to have been doing some offroading.
It would need lots of H3 "stuff" to make me want one.

I have been having service done at the GMC dealer since they jacked me around with the locker at the "Hummer" dealer.
Uh that would have been 2006.

They take care of me and don't gripe about using it beyond it's capabilities....................(stated by female service manager at the Chevy/Hummer after leading 3 Hummer Happenings for them) no longer employed.
I gave her an advertising brochure with the DVD in it from the sales department but I don't know if she knew how to play it.
The sales guys had to hide their faces when I gave it to her at a consultation attended by the area GM rep who said, just fix it!

As mentioned elsewhere, before going with an H2 I seriously considered a Tahoe. Very nice and lots to like about them. However, after looking into what it would take to get it to stock H3 off-road ability I realized that realistically I'd be giving up on any real wheeling. Still get me to camping spots and such, but the mods and cost to get 35" tires and selectable lockers plus protection and all the supporting mods? Fuggetaboutit.

First, every off road vehicle is - more Wrangler Rubicons hit the mall and never go off road than ones that actually wheel. Second, we need the sales from the mall crawlers, there just isn't a large enough market otherwise. As bad of a "street queen" reputation the H2 got, if only actual wheelers bought them they wouldn't have made it past the first couple years - not enough sales.

that's true. same with camaros - they have to make a V6 in order to sell the SS.
