What encoder motor brand?

So after a recent trip my TC will not go back into 4HI unlocked. It will switch between LO and HI locked with audible noise. Button will light but no noise from TC. I have cleaned the buttons and there is no sticking or warning lights. My only assumption at this point is the encoder motor. TC has metal shift fork and has fluid replaced every year. Not a big deal to replace but want to avoid known problems.

I bought a new encoder motor off eBay a year ago for around 110 bucks and it’s still going strong. Real easy install on them prob 20-30 min

Help!! My 2007 h3 flys out of gear going down the road while in 4 high open... I switch to 4 high lock and it shifts again... Tcase shot?... I heard something about a computer in the glove box area?... My first time posting in a half ass mechanic have changed tranny's and tcases in the past I'm in Alaska and contrary to popular belief it's not winter 24-7 and we don't live in igloos... Well.... Not all of us at least lol

I suspect your front differential is gone. Other possibilities are the CVs in the front axles are gone, or the CV in the front propshaft. You already completed the first test here: If your H3 moves in 4 hi lock, then the issue is likely the front drivetrain. Visually inspect the three CVs (axles and propshaft) to make sure grease isn't flung everywhere and/or they have not ripped into two pieces. But more likely is the diff: drain the front diff and look for silvery oil or metal chunks. You may want to take off the cover as well and visually inspect. It does have a reusable gasket so it's not a pain to reinstall and refill.

When you park your H3 in an igloo, does the ice melt from the heat coming off of the truck?:giggle:

Does the H3 run better off whale fat or baby seal oil?

I've had bad luck with Dorman encoder motors on my wife's Tahoe; replaced 3 times at 6-9 month intervals before buying an OEM. More money, but it's lasting (5+ years). Not sure if the H3's encoder is like that or not, but I know that there are certain items that should always be replaced with OEM unless you want to do it again shortly (GM in-tank fuel pumps come to mind). Just my $.02

When I replaced my encoder motor last time one of the three bolt holes is rotted out. I don’t cycle it unless it’s the last resort. Once another hole fails it looks like I will need to replace the whole housing.
