I've always used a Wilson 1000 on a mag mount. It works really well and the mag mount works like an additional mechanical fuse if I go under too low branches.

5' Firestik, and I beat the hell out of it. Tough antenna!

I'm running a Wilson 1000 for my CB. It works good, but I need a spring between the antenna and the base - my whip has gotten pretty trashed from low hanging tree branches...

For my dual band ham rig I am running a Larsen NMO2/70B, which is an NMO mount dual band antenna. I already got a spring mount for it after mutilating my last whip :p

I have a 4' Firestik and it has worked beautifully with my Cobra. Not sure of the range/power/etc...but it works more than well for my needs when wheeling on the trail.

I have a Wilson 1000 that I have had for about 15 years or so, and it has been on 4 different trucks. Works great and is really tough. Hard to damage a stainless whip!

I have also run a K40 before the Wilson. It was a good one too.

Nice thing is, if you do damage the whip a new one is under $10 :deal:
