H3 Truck won't start after driving through water

So am I understanding right the oil is all gone after the event, not the cause of it.

1. No oil in the engine is not a good thing
2. An oil pan full of water is worse.
3. It only takes one engine rotation she. It has water to hydrolock and bend and break internals. Its not a gradual death.

Understood. So now the question is if I broke the oil pan the day prior wheeling it and it happened to die when I drove through the flood waters (was 3 blocks from my house the morning after wheeling)
So this could have been the reason why it seized
Or scenario 2, the engine hydrolocked and the water froze internally cracking the oil pan.
Either way I am f ed. It's getting towed soon

So what's the plan? Replacement 5-cyl? Alpha swap? Diesel swap?

Plan for now is rebuild/i5 replacement.
Believe me id love nothing more than to get an alpha but I'd rather just sell this one and get an alpha than go through the troubles of an engine swap.

I replaced the engine from a Chrysler 300 one time cause the guy drove through water and blew a piston through the oil pan. If you didn't hear knocking from the motor before driving through the water then this might have happened to yours.

I know you can buy V8 crate motors but do they make replacement I-5's new or are they all salvaged / used engines?

They are going to put in a motor with 59k on it, not a terrible situation. I have been playing with the idea of buying an alpha and selling mine after this process is over
