Traction control

I just got my hum back from my mechanic he changed cv half shafts and replaced rear brakes.... I drove to school this morning and my traction control kept kicking in. It wasn't allowing me to really push brake pedal down which made for a pretty scary ride. I read somewhere it could be a wheel speed sensor? If that's the case could I change it myself because I don't want to take it back to mechanic because I just got it back. Any thoughts or advice on what to do would be great. Thanks guys

Its a pretty fair assumption that the mechanic left something disconnected, or perhaps messed up. Sounds to me like he didn't even test drive it after the work. If he's a decent indy mechanic, he'll correct it or show you why its not his fault. If he doesn't, find a new shop to deal with, and chalk it up as a lesson in auto repair.

He drove it to my house after and the weird thing is I drove about 20 miles today and it only did it in the last 2 miles of each of my trips. I pushed the traction control button when it started doing it so bad it brought me to a stop. Shortly after the traction control button was solid and ABS light lit up. Don't know if that would help to narrow down problems

I went through a long ordeal similar to yours. The vehicle would randomly lock up the brakes and the DIC would show "ABS Fault", "Traction Failure", and "Service Stab Sys". It turned out that the front passenger ABS/speed sensor wire was rubbing against something and got worn down, exposing the copper wire beneath. The wire itself was even chewed up a bit, and when it got wet, it would short out and send crazy signals to the car. I replaced the entire hub assembly, to include a new sensor, and the problem is gone. It was pretty scary driving down the highway and having the brakes randomly lock up, particularly in inclement weather.

Got my hummer back and figured out the traction control.... $450 later it was the front wheel hub assembly? What the hell makes these things go bad? I baby my hummer I mean baby it and this is my 2nd hub I've gone through. Very frustrated on why it happens
