thanks guys for all the reviews. This can help out alot of people in the future when they look for new tires and thanks kurt for the review on larger size tires for the H1. It seems like everyone that has a toyo M/t claim they are heavier then others in their size. people that are concerned with weight should keep that in mind

I have 325/65/18 Fierce Attitude MT's for about 5 months now. I've gone rockcrawling and some mudding and they have done very well in both areas. I haven't tried them in snow yet but i can't wait. They are very good on road as well.

Well I had 37x13.5x18 Toyo M/T open country, wery happy with those on H2 20k plus now newer rotated. Down to ~50% now, front seems to be little more worn.
Performed wery well in sand, rocks, snow, mud (didn't try in deep mud or deep snow 3' or more), not very noisy on the street.
New ones 38x15.5x20 Toyo M/T much bigger tire, it seems H2 has to work harder to keep up at 70-80mph.probably need to regear it or supercharger.Worked very well at Bishop.

Regearing will help out big time, Serge. When I went to the 4.88's, the
difference was huge

Any one have any complaints with the KM2 in the mud? From what I have heard/read, the mud performance is not a good as the old KM. There is a good chance the KM2 will be my next set of tires but the trails I hit locally, there is a ton of mud and mud performance is my biggest concern.

I cant compare to the old KM but zach, craig and mike all have KM2's on their H2, H3 and H3T and from what I have seen they havent struggled in mud one bit, In bishop the last trail was alot of waterholes and they did good there too.

I have nothing but good to say about the KM2's performance in mud. Zach and I did a run in Big Bear where the mud got real sloggy and deep. I actually slowed down in it to see how well my tires did. Not a bit of drift! Zach had the same response with the KM2s on his H2. The Jeep that was leading us got a little out of control on the same mud pit but I think he was still in 2wd at that time.

I have been impressed with my KM2's so far. In mud, like the others have said, they pulled right through. When these wear out, I will be going with the KM2's again. And not just because I have two new spares. :thumbs:

Kinda pist...Looked at some duratracs and on one website they went for $297 a piece but on that same website the nitto mud grappler (which is a badass tire!) was going for $288...WTH?

The duratracs used to be so much cheaper, I think after I run these two spares down I am going with something else only because of price...

Prices keep climbing quickly on ALL tires - oil goes up, tires go up. Oil goes down, tires go up but only a little :no:. With the volatility of the prices you really can't make that price-influenced decision until it's time to put up the cash.

I need new tires but dont know what to do...I have 4 duratracs with bad tread life and 2 with zero miles on them. I have been happy with them but think the KM2's will do better for offroad purposes. This still is a DD so ride quality is important but so is off road as I have been on tougher trails lately.

My options are:

Get 2 new duratracs and run the two spares for a brand new set of 4 and use the 2 best duratracs with bad tread life as new spares

OR

Get 4 KM2's and run the 2 unused duratracs as spares

OR

Get 6 KM2s and sell the 2 good duratracs

OR

get the 2 new duratracs for daily use and most off roading trips but get 4 tires that do extremely well off road but poorly on road for those tougher trails.

Post up your thoughts guys!

I'd get 2 new Duratracs. I sure like mine and was real impressed with them in Moab. The truck runs so smooth on the highway compared to when I was running the Geo MTs. I got mine at Discount tire for $254 ea. I thought that was a great price for that size tyre.

I'm thoroughly impressed with my Duratracs. I recently put them to the test off-roading and even their mud performance wasn't too shabby. If your wheeling involves a lot of mud you may want to consider the KM2s.

I have been asking around and doing reviews on a lot of the tires you guys run. I have had quite a few people compare the MT/R to the KM2 and pick the MT/R. Yet some dont like the MT/R. The KM2's seem like a good choice too...

Sometimes I feel like a tire can work for one truck and not the other due to weight and other factors. Everyone running KM2s on the H3 love them. Any other MT/R reviews specifically for the H3?

not really...are they a heavy tire? I am trying to keep the tire light, thats the main reason I am staying away from the Toyo MT's

They are actually quite similar to the Toyo MT, and they are a "heavy tire". Understood about the light tire.

I had the Duratrac's in 315 75 16.

I agree with 06 H3, Great all around tire, but they start to slip. Mine lasted 60k miles, but I ran them another 10k. I never balanced mine, and I rotated them roughly every 10k. They were great in snow and ice, quiet enough, good off-road on the rocks and in the mud. My only complaint is that the rear end got squirrley on loose dirt roads, especially over wash-boards. Drove a friends H3 with the same set up on BFG AT's and it was much better.

I just ordered a set of 315 75 16 Goodyear MTR's. I will have them siped to help with ice traction. I expect them to be on -par with the duratracs in every way, and outperform them on loose dirt roads. The exception is that I dont think that they will last as long, but If I get 40k out of them, I'll be happy....

I think the Duratracs are listed at 19/32" of tread depth, and the MTR's are 21/32" of tread depth. The Duratracs seem to be made out of a little harder compound than the MTR's but I hope it turns out to be a wash, or close to one. Like I said, if I get 35-40k out of them, I'll be happy.

Who has 2 sets of tires? Street and offroad? I have money saved up and am finally going to pull the trigger. I cant decide if I should go with 2 new duratracs with 2 new unused spares I have and then 4 MT/Rs for offroad use. I am driving over 1000 miles a month and would hate to see the MT/Rs be done in less then 2 years.

I originally set out to do this but found myself getting lazy an never swapped my tires. It also requires space to store the set. Remember that you will need five tires if the sets are different sizes.
