For a street oriented AT, I don't think you can beat the Cooper ATP/AT3 from Discount Tire. If money were no object I would probably buy a set of Duratracs again. But, having had them and finding them a little sketchy in the mud where I like to play I figured I'd try the Kelly's like Telemike mentioned (a couple of times ;D ) Same carcass but more open tread, should be a win-win. The Dick Cepek F/C II tires are highly recommended and I looked hard at those too. Just make sure to get a D or E rating, the H3 is quite a bit heavier than those little Jeeps and once you start loading it down for your offroad excursions you will appreciate the stiffer sidewalls.

Almost forgot, the Cooper ST's chunk less than the more mud oriented STT but they are still pretty aggressive and last about 50K miles.

In hindsight, since I don't get out wheeling as much as I thought I would, I would choose the Cooper ATP from Discount Tire as a good daily driver tire that can handle some off-road use.

Well, I agreed with Green1 and got the Cooper's Difinity Dakota's. I will try to keep a log to see how they wear/last/handle. Happy with them so far. Got to see hoe they handle in the rain right off the bat because it started raining as I was leaving the Pepboys driveway & I had to get on the freeway; not one hint of hydroplaning & that made me happy! I felt taller so my previous tread was evidently pretty shot. Could hear the difference but nothing like needing to turn up the radio or anything. Is more of a bumpy ride on the pavement but not regretable. And believe it or not, on the way home we had to pull off the road, into the soggy/muddy grass to help one other person try to catch a Lab running in the road with tags on; luckily he made it, & not a bit of hesitation from the tires. So here are the new shoes:

Leveling the front and putting shackles in the back is a nice little bump in offroad ability over stock for little effort or money.

f the ride seems a bit bumpy, be sure to check the air pressure as many shops automatically fill to the sidewall max pressure rather than the pressure on your door jamb. X 2 on the torsion bar lift. It'll really change the look and feel.
