Hi,
My third brake light stopped working so it was time to find out what was wrong.
I pulled off the black cover from the tailgate.
That was no problem, but the piece anove was tricky to do.
There are some metal clips with hooks that are really holding that thing stront together. I broke 3 plastic pieces.
No turning back.
When i removed the brake light assembly, i saw that it was corroded bad and the connector was not good anymore.
A whole area was damaged so i tried to see if the leds could function again when i made the connection elsewere.
I found it and soldered new wires to those places.
After checking if it worked when hitting the brake, i sprayed some PlastiDip allover the board.
Also some duct tape to hold future water out.
After that i reassembled the tailgate moldings and voila, i saved myself some dollars.
The third brake light assembly cost about 170$ without shipping.
