I was checking at the ATT store about how my plan would be affected if I got an ipad and it dropped $10 with more data and the ipad was $100 off, so I got one.
I'm trying to keep up with you geeks and decided I would get an ipad 4 retina 4G for the H3 instead of the laptop after my waterfalls trip.
So far the speed and boot up and lock of the GPS is impressive over what I had.
Interesting how technology changes in 6 years or so :giggle:

I choose Motion X GPS HD app for now and will do some testing.
My friend has the same thing so we can be in sync. We used his and my laptop last time and it was an interesting comparison.

Keep up with me? Heck, I still don't have any large screen devices in my H3. Now, what's your reference to Tapatalk about?

haha i dont have anything in my hummer as far as screens. i do carry the ipad with me in my bag tho! how do u plan to mount the ipad to the dash? could you post up some pics? i might want to do the same for when im out wheeling!

To respond to our straying away from the subject, briefly.
I already had the custom H3 Ram mount that goes under the passenger side seat and extended up for my laptop. I will just remove the tray.
On or bout April 12 the new cradle for the ipad 4 will be available and I will wait on that for a better fit and has a clamp for the lightening connection.

I already got the shaft and balls:whaa: from the other mount I configured.

About Tapatalk, I am not up to speed apparently. Last night it took me awhile to get it going and found I could hit the browzer button in the lower right to display the page like it looks on my desktop. However I can't seem to make it full screen. I have a menu on the left of all the forum titles I can't move so I can blow up the rest for my old eyes. It's probably operator error, I have just begun!! lol

Apple in all their wisdom, for $629 could not figure out a way to add more photos thru itunes or add folders without wiping out what you already have in there?
I will bring that up in photography and see what response I get.

Have been using the ipad for two years in the cessna. Lots of apps withAirport freq's, tracking, flight plan open/close, etc.Carry an old paper backup map, but think I'm screwed if I ever have to usedead reckoning again....

Been using motion x on my iPhone/iPad for years now to navigate and record tracks/waypoints. Great app.
The only recent issue I have had is that they stopped allowing you to cache bing, apple, google maps due to licensing agreements, so now you can only cache the motion x maps. I sent them an email about this and they replied that they are working on agreements for other map types to cache and stay tuned for future updates.

I use a suction cup mount with tab- tite cradle from Ram. I have a gumdrop case cover on my iPad so I don't need to take it off with this cradle.

There is no reason to use tap a talk on the iPad. Just browse/post the full forum sites through safari.

Thanks, I probably made it more complicated than it was. I'm gunshy, well on the ipad, as I am used to finding out how to do things, without screwing something up.
The blue message popped up saying to get the ipad app so being an obedient human I complied, having heard about tapatalk on the forum thought that was the way to go. Apparently mostly for phones. Never mind, just asking.
I probably should have tried it straight to the site first. More time needed.
I did try it this morning and all is well, I will crawl back under my rock while figuring out how to bypas itunes for pictures using my sd card.

I will start a tablet nav thread as it appears this thread is going that way and things have changed, for me at least.
