Chris it takes some balls to crawl under your truck and start cutting away $hit. You ask questions and you listen. This will turn out great, you will learn a lot and you have earned a lot of respect.

In a spring under application the Gas tank can be pulled with the tires on springs in and axle in. In the spring over can I still put it in with everything attached? Figure id ask before I put everything in then have to pull it all back out. I wouldn't be too happy lol

My dear ole Dad would have called you a "driveway lizard" but I think you have progressed beyond that and alot can be attributed to you asking lots of questions BEFORE doing anything and during so as to use others knowledge of what NOT to do.
That is why early on I thought you had great potential and now look, your deep into a major mod.
Do you need another steering sleeve?

You must have very supportive parents!
Maybe some rubber mats on the driveway? haha
Is that a level surface where you are working?

I have super cool parents. They are very supportive of my hobby and basically gave their garage up for me. They are easy going but not so easy going where I can do what I want. Trust me, they will still kick my ass if I get out of line. I want them to go on an H4O run of these days they would like the so cal group a lot!

No rubber mats its 110 out and to I use the angle grinder to push all the dirt, metal shavings and other crap away from my little work area lol. I am not on level surface but so far everything seems to line up. When I set the pinion angle that was on level ground in the garage. The axle under the truck now but I gotta go drill the spring perch holes bigger :gaah: I am hungry so I am breaking for a nice PB&J a bag of chips and a cold water while cruising the forums, then its back out to the hot driveway.

heres a pic, the u bolts from ruff stuff didnt work so I had to get some from napa and they are the same size but different colors WTF. I am gonna order some new ones after shes driveable.

Looks great Chris. Its amazing how much things move around under there (before & after you put weight on it). You don't really pay it much mind until you do the SOA mod. I did the same thing with enlarging the perch holes....in & out...in & out...in & out.

BTW...what are those ginormous leaf springs from?...the ones with 9-leafs and a military wrap?

Those were custom made from the company of deaver they were my solution for ranchos pos springs that can't hold weight. They flex well and rode well but for rock crawling I had less clearance when I started before the lift so that's why I'm here today doing this in 110 degree weather lol. They are 11 leafs and the rancho shim. I dont wanna bash deaver one bit as there springs did the job. Hold the weight, ride nice and flex well but they are just too big for rocks. In their shop they literally have autograph after autograph of famous Baja racers using their springs. They can make springs putting out 18in of travel. For prerunners the clearance isn't an issue for me it was.

From what I have seen flex won't be an issue as I'll have almost too much with this mod but if I ever get the itch for more travel I would use them to make a small factory leaf height pack for added travel but I doubt I will need it :)

HOLY ****!!! its on the ground!!!! I have a paper stored with every height listed at any given area on the truck with 2 heights, pre rancho and rancho lifted. I pulled it out and saw that when I was t bar cranked on 35s I had 11inches at the spring hanger, rancho lifted I was at 13.75 now I am AT 18.5 INCHES OF CLEARANCE AT THE SPRING HANGER!!!!!!!!

So I still have to weld on the perches and set pinion angle grind off whats left of the stock hanger and hook up the tank then drive it! I may go to a welding shop and have my welds looked at to make sure its all good to go but the clearance addition is insane! She sits a bit high but hopefully it will settle, probably 5 1/2 in the rear and 3 1/2 in the front, the halfshafts are actually too low lol. The rear lowered the front so I need to get it back where it was.

Hub to fender driveway measurements. 28in the rear for 5.5inches of lift and 25.5in the front rancho recommends 26 to 26.5 so I will go at 26.5 for the front and hope the rear settles to about 27.5 so I will be at 4in in the front and 5inches in the rear instead of the current 5.5 in the rear and 3.5 in the front.

Very nice! Looks like that truck won't be going into the garage anytime soon, at least not until you take off that spare.

Lol never will be in there too much crap.

I'm untacking the perches and will loosen the u bolts and use a jack to adjust the pinion angle. I think it's gotta go up a bit. I wanna wheel and see the added flex with the new height I don't want my COG to be bad so I may sell the gobi and spare and go with a home built aluminum rack. I'm hoping the suspension settles an inch and then I wont have much to worry about. I just don't want this thing to be like an old jeep that flops over easily and I plan to increase its ability not hinder it in off camber situations.

Testing phase will be soon and that will determine what needs to be done next
