Some idiot rear ended me and took off....

Last night I was driving to my brothers to work on his computer when some idiot rear ended me at a stop sign and then took off... I would have chased him but if I would have caught up to them I might have ended up with an assault charge, so I figured I better just report it and wait for the police. My rear door is creased up pretty good. It was another truck and they hit my rear tire mostly on the right side it looks like. The tire was pushed all the way against the door on the right side..

Damn. I am afraid I would have chased the ******* down...pretty certain I would have. Hopefully you got a license plate number.

Nope. It happened on a road just off of the on ramp to the freeway. All they had to do was back up 20 feet spin their wheel and floor it down the on ramp to the freeway. Me, I was at the stop sign and would have had alot more problem backing up out of there because I was further down and I had shut my truck off already. They backed up about 15 feet and I thought they were staying there so I shut off my truck and was grabbing my phone that had ended up on the passenger side floorboard after they hit me when they took off.

Man, sorry to hear. I hate things like that. Happened to my wife a couple months ago. Hope there is no frame damage and otherwise repairable.

The bumper appears to have been pushed in on the drivers side. If that spare was not on there, I am sure it would have been alot worse. What is bad is that the metal is creased and pinched in a couple of spots. I dont know if this is a fix, or if they will just replace the door? Anybody have any suggestions on what I should check to make sure nothing worse is wrong. I was stopped, and the guy hit me doing between probably 15-20mph.

"some" idiot backed mine into a tree. My over the spare rack I have broke the rear window. (think that happened to someone else, no names) lol
Window $200.

That also caved in part of the lower area below the glass.

That made a gap and they had to fill with sealant for the glass to seal.

That crease up close to the bottom of the glass is a problem.
Dent Doctor got out my big cave in but up there at the top is hard to get to with their tools.

I'm thinking you should get a new door or have lots of old fashioned metal work.
These days they seem to just replace entire panels.

I may get one to replace it later if I track down a used white one.

Sorry for your trouble, they probably did not have insurance.

Wow, I kinda see why they took off. You could have looked like you were pulling a gun out.

Sorry you had to go through that. I have always worried about someone hitting the spare and causing a lot of damage to the door.

Simply bolt-on the new hatch door...throw a THORparts rear bumper on there...and you're done!

Yes replace the whole thing, check to make sure the door swings open properly without hesitation or weird squeaking... But glad your ok brother

Going to the dealer tomorrow. Insurance is taking care of it.. 0 deduct. The door has 3 pinched areas where the metal is pinched and not just dented. Hoping that they replace the door, and the locking mechanism. Also the bumper got pushed in on the lower left corner, so I am having them take care of that too.

Just got back from the Cadillac dealership where I always take my rig. I am getting a new back door and they are also going to take care of my rear bumper as well. Just have to wait for the new door to come in, then I can take it back... Thats a relief...

Shortly after I got my 2, it got hit on the street. Went out the next morning, glass on the street, rear tire was flat, u steps were across the street and a gouge in the street leasing away from my truck. Was worried, have uninsured. Called the police, shortly after a guy and teenager come up to me. They ask if it's my truck, uh yeah! Teenager panicked and bailed. Brother made him come back in the am. They wanted to pay cash, told them it was at least 9k damage. They said no it's not. Police came out and reserved the right to file later. Did tell the kid that if you were that scared, why did you get out and pick up your wheel? He looked dumbfounded. Told him, I would have found you. He asked how? Because you drove home on the control arm, lmao. We saw his truck later. Totaled. My truck 12k damage. They opted for insurance.

Ya. He seen HUMMER and decided he can't afford to fix itb or take the insurance hit.

I watched a woman in a Mercedes back into an H3 and break the center cap and rip the tire. She put it in drive pretty quick. I walked in front of her and let her know I had her tag number and would report her if she left. She called to cops herself.
