I’m looking to upgrade to some Silverstar Ultras.
Headlights, no problem……H13/9008.
Fogs however are another story.
My owner’s manual does not list the bulb size for the fogs, just the heads and other misc. bulbs.
Nothing listed on the ST web site for the fogs and asearch on various forums gives me conflicting part numbers.
Results show H10 or H11 for the fogs, with Silverstar replacementsas 9005/9140/9145.
ALso, one of the above replacments appears to be headlight replacement that may or may not melt a lense or wiring harness.

I would rather ask you guys a dumb question nowthan return to the parts counter with hat in hand so to speak.

What say you?

The fogs are H10/9140/9145 . Im running HIDs, 35 Watts on the fogs on stock wiring harness, been a year without any issues. When I ordered em the site had an Option listed as H10/9140/9145, and i chose that. Guess they are all compatible on each other.

As for the headlights, recommend a dedicated wiring harness for it if your going above stock wattage, saves you the headache, and its really simple to do. Im running 55Watts HID on em too, no issues at all when it comes to the lenses.

Offcourse Halogen lights are different than HIDs, I think they may emmit more heat.

H10 is the same as the 9140/9145. Difference between 9140 and 9145 is the power output. A 9140 outputs 40W and guess what a 9145 outputs (45W), Not sure if a 9005 will fit, I believe it has different offsets for sliders.

But don't worry about the wire size, the silverstars pull the same current as the stock bulbs. I'm wondering if the fogs have a silverstar ultra bulb available. I used a 9145 standard silverstar and have never melted anything.

On a side note I have not seen a recognizable difference between the Silverstar and the Ultra and in my headlights I have one of each (and the Ultra is two years newer than the regular one). For me, it wasn't worth the upgraded price to Ultra from Silverstar.

I recently underwent a search when I upgraded my headlights and fogs to silverstars. The headlight bulbs are easy but the fogs are another story. From what discovered the light bulbs share the same base/screw pattern. The oem replacement is 9140 which share the base as the 9145 & 9155 but only put out 40w of output. The 9145 seems to be a safe upgrade. It will deliver an extra 5w of output without the danger of heat damage to the light housing that the 9155 or 9005 may cause. With real life results the upgrade to silverstars and upgrade to 9145s you can really see tge difference
