I agree. Maybe 33" on SUV, but 35" on truck with longer wheelbase.
I have decided to build mine to do Rubicon. Which would include gobs of armor, locker in rear and limited slip in front and steel drive lines. I think then I would be ready.
I will not take my H3T on Fordyce. That is the toughest trail I've ever been on. I have not done the Dusy yet, but it's 30 miles long, and chicken hill is legendary difficult.

Sounds like you guys had a great time. Glad you made it home ok.

Bebe said they have and you might just need to take different lines. It's very line dependent type of trail, some spots I couldn't fit in between a tree like my buddy's little red TJ so I had to hang left or right. Some spots are tight no matter what line but I'm sure it's manageable if it's been done before

I can honestly say there have been more H1's through that trail than any others in the Hummer Family.

Some trips have gone well with zero damage - other trips, not so much. But it's the same with any vehicle.

So my diff fluid leak might have been the demise of my Dana 44...900ml= .95 quarts I need 2.5 and it had 2.5 in there...

It's possible - I was Trail Boss of FOTR (took over for Del Albright in 2008) and worked with Jenny Ward on the Lawsuit Donation You're club was very generous! Small world indeed.

No more Sierra Trek for me - took my H3 with an H1 (Rick Roberts) in 2009 and was harassed for weeks afterwords. Steve Piazza, Steve Egbert and Jeff Blewett keep trying to get me to bring more Hummers, but until it moves back to Cisco Grove, I won't take them past Committee until I have done the trail through to Meadow Lake. Winch Hill 3 has been "fixed", but I'm not confident we could even do the bypass in any version of a Hummer let alone the squeeze. 1,2,4 and 5 would be fine.

I now dedicate that weekend to WeBilt4x4 Club's Disabled Sports USA Far West run on the Rubicon every year. We schedule the same weekend as Trek every year on purpose.

Yeah - that's a little dry. Does your 44 have an oil slinger?

yes, it does, from the looks of my diff cover I took a nice hit, not sure if that caused the leak.

I know you know this, but leaks typically come from the cover, pinion seal and axle seal. If it had a slinger it should have been ok bearing wise.

Do they look marred or cooked?

Yep, we have known bebe was a 4 wheeling superstar for a long time. Great lady. We miss her in Moab, it has been a couple of years since Rick and bebes came to see us.

I assume pinion seal or diff cover...I didnt see anything coming from the tubes...Bearings? Havent pulled em out yet. I will let you know. Plan on replacing all of it for good measure. These gears were installed by a "pro" from the previous owner who had plans to put this in his CJ but sold the jeep. I had issues with it since day 1 so I feel its a setup issue, and obviously a fluid issue as well. lol I pulled it all out and adjusted the pinion preload but drove for almost a year on the axle with the pinion preload issue so it may have just been time and when I put it back together I didnt adjust anything but the preload.

I will get a master install kit. Bearings, races, seals, etc. Set it up properly with a new set of yukon 5.13s....Rule of thumb is 4 axles before I upgrade lol I went through 4 AAM-7s before the SAS, only 3 more to go before a D60 but I think this was more of improper setup and running out of fluid. Next one should last me a lot longer...or one would hope

I think it would be a great experience, not sure I'm into the body damage though. Curious about that 1 ton IFS. Thought Bebe had a solid axle setup?

An h3 is less likely for damage...and I work till Saturday so I can't pull it apart till then will order parts tonight...then install Sunday.

Sometimes I wonder if a Dana 60 is calling my name but at the same time this seems like a improper install and lack of fluid failure
