Guys , what is a good shock for the H3 ?....I am getting just a little wobble that sometimes is sustained...it has the original ones it had at birth.It is just about to roll over 50,000 , which brings up another question , what service do you recommend at the 50,000 mile marker ??

Check ur control arm bushings. They usually wear out about now esp if u do some offroad, ur front diff cross member bushing and check you steering rack for any play, its support gets loose after a while causing play and eventually failure(esp if u wheel)

You said 'for all around use'...I would go with Bilsteins..A great Shock and can be found all over the internet for reasonable prices...

Here is what I put on;

Front: Bilstein 24-187091
Rear:
Bilstein 24-016988

I second the Bilsteins and I got the extended bump stops for daily driving and have the stock progressive dampeners if I ever feel like putting those back in. The dealer replaced those with new when I bought the truck in the spring so they're practically new. I too have a wobble/shimmy and haven't narrowed it down. I got a set of 16mm tie rods to replace the 06 14s and I'll be puttin those in soon when I get the rack mount. That should rule out that component. Ball joints look solid so I don't think it's those. That leaves upper/lower control arm bushings and wheel bearings... I had an alignment done when I got the truck and had em balance the tires. Maybe they slacked on the balancing... I've got 80,000 on it so the bushings might be on their way out...

One thing I learned, when it comes to shocks... there are so many choices and everyone has there opinion.

Just read the specs on each

I go back and forth between OEM and Bilstein. I like them both.

As for 50K service - follow your owner's manual, not your dealer's sales pitch. I do go a bit more aggressively than the manual and I like to do my main fluids at that time: engine oil (of course), transfer case, front and rear diffs, transmission drain and fill, maybe a coolant flush.

At 130,000 I haven't done an official brake fluid flush, but I've replaced a lot of brake fluid just by bleeding a line here or there when working on the truck. Most of my power steering fluid was replaced when I replaced the pump around 60,000 miles.

Check Shockwarehouse.com for price on whatever you decide..

Based on my past experience (not in a Hummer) Billsteins tend to be a little stiff...Old Man Emu gives a nice ride all around..

good luck..

Got mine from shockwarehouse... Didn't know if I was gonna want the TD bumpstops at first. Got em fast and they were just as cheap, if not cheaper than anywhere else

I just put monroe reflex on my h3x. Stunning difference and smothed everything out. I had 65500 miles and original shocks on mine. Good price too...everything feels tight and solid now....even with light wheeling as of now....
