rancho lift installed

Just finished the the rancho install for my 2008 H3 Alpha. I had to temporarily mount the 1 inch spacers that I used to use for my 15 inch steel wheels until I can get an 1/8 inch spacer delivered to me on tuesday or wednesday. With the 5 inch backspacing on my 18x9 rockstars the knuckle barely caused an issue but it did touch.

Im going to order extended shackles because the rear already seems like it isnt as high as the front to me. I did have all the oem parts and hardware that were taken off during the installation in my trunk when i took these pictures though.

edit: i think that may just be the angle I was looking at the truck which made it look saggy in the back to me

Nope it will sit butt low. i am also thinking shackles or airbags, probably airbags. Shackles just wearout the already weak rancho springs even faster

the distance between the driver side rear tire and fender is one inch less than it is on the passenger side as well

Overall, it looks great! Just needs minor tweaking. I have a similar base truck (mine is an adventure) and I am contemplating about doing the same in a couple of years. Did you notice an MPG drop due to the lift kit alone (less any changes in the tires)?

Ive literally only driven maybe 3 miles with the lift on so far so I couldnt tell you about any mpg loss yet.

Ill look into the airbags

There shouldn't be a mpg loss if you keep the same tyres it will change if you get bigger tyresLooks good One thing I installed was the on board shock adjusters it makes a massive difference to the ride when off road

The ride so far is great. I only drove to the store and back after the install but it was a good ride. The install started out pretty lousy when every bolt was completely seized and didnt want to come out. I got some pb blaster, Im sure you could use liquid wrench or any other penetrating oil <- (HAHA), and soaked all the bolts I would have to loosen. I resprayed them every half hour or so and then went to install the next day. Everything else went smoothly, I know you have a similar issue to me where you are going to need spacers so as long as you have that issue sorted out everything should go fine. my driver side rear seems to be slightly lower than the passenger side rear, not sure why that is, possibly just the leaf springs. Im going to try to find a stock h3 tomorrow to park next to so I can see the difference

thanks benlaud! I will spray everything down but doubt I will have that issue...my H3 has been in california its entire life, no salt no rust.

Those springs are a pain in the ass. I plan on coming up with a solution but first thing is I gotta get it on and enjoy it. Do you feel a 1.5in spacer will work on the stock rim and duratracs? thats my only concern...I hope it works or else I gotta go with a 1.75-2in spacer

I have 18x9s with 5" backspacing. The rancho knuckle just touches the tire without any spacer and my tires are 325/65/18. Tomorrow if I have time I can try putting a stock tire and rim on with a 1 inch spacer and .5 inch spacer stacked to see if it fits for you.

Some of the other truck forums do mention a small drop in highway MPG after the installation of lifts due to a change aerodynamics, etc. It is worth the check - maybe 1 MPG.
