LOL, It's all Brian's fault. :mock: just kidding Brian.
Got a couple of Buy Bids on the JK. After 13 months of ownership, I did the deal this past Sat. Of course the lift, wheels, tires stayed on though. Everything else is sitting here ready to be lised up F/S on the Jeep forums. Sat was like Monster Garage around my house. I had every tool I owned out and the entire garge was filled with parts, tools, wires, all kinds of chaos. lol. What took me about 50 hours total to install, took about 4 hours to take most of it all back off. It was a bittersweet day.
The JK was a great rig for wheeling, fun with the top off, tons of accessories available for it, and good for a daily driver. The longer trips however, it lacked where the H2 excelled. The 2012 engine/ trans was way better than previous years, but wanted somthing with a little more power, more options/ interior refinements. If the H2 was still available (NEW) there would be no question, I would have gone back into one those in a second. I was looking for a fullsize truck, locker(s) from the factory, capable of runing 35's to 37's with minimal lift, great for longer trips, and able to pull an offroad toy, and enough room inside for the dog, some gear and able to put 5 people comfortably in it. oh, and I did not want a deisel.
My intnetion for this truck will be my DD, longer roadtrips, some trails (nothing like the harder trails we run in Moab), I mean like camping, hunting spots, etc.
The Dodge PowerWagon was one of the first trucks I looked at. They now have a high end interior on the Laramie PowerWagon model. A nice truck! F/R lockers, factory winch, leather, nav, sun, HEMI, etc. The dealers were reluctant to deal on them and most were selling at MSRP to $6K over msrp., and tough to get my hands on. So, I looked into lifts, wheels, tires, etc. It was all available and I could always order one if I wanted to wait longer. Overall, it looked like a nice truck and was one of two on my list.
The next truck i drove was a Ford Raptor Supercrew. Another very roomy truck inside. Locking rear, Torsen front, 6.2L, leather w/ heat & cooled, sun, etc. The NAV unit has front and rear camera display, live doppler radar, and a full 4X systems check on an LCD in the dash. This truck has the Fox Shocks setup on it already. TO lift this one, it as easy as a percha djsutment on the front coilover. you can add a rear spring pack and 37's fit nicely than. The back seat folds up providing a nice flat platform for loading gear and Bodie dog. This was another truck that was hard to get my handsm out and hard to deal on. Some dealers have a $10 markup here in CO on them. This truck is pretty wide. 2" wider trackwidth the H1 (on paper anyhow). I know wheels/ tires change that pretty quick too.
So I went back and forth on this for the last 30 days weighing out the pros and cons. in the end I decided on the Raptor. I'll find out if I made the right choice soon enough. I ended up with a white on black crewcab. My first white rig ever. It has just about every option on this thing.
I'll get some pics this week and post up if anyone is interested in info on the truck.
SO, what my going to bring to Moab to wheel with my freinds? Not sure yet. I have been looking at the polaris 900XP's and may do that down the road. i have also been looking at H3's and building one of those for wheeling only. somthing I'll look into more this winter. I'm by no means done wheeling. Co trails and Moab are in my blood!!!!! And I certainly would hate to not see freinds twice a year (or more) in Moab.
