We're proud to announce Paladine71 as Moderator of the new Emergency Preparedness room. We've had some good scattered discussions on this topic over time, most of theme serious and some of them lighthearted (where do I get Zombie stickers?), and James suggested we create a new area for this topic. Both well versed in, and passionate about, this topic, Paladine71 was the natural choice to moderate this area of H4O. Please congratulate James on both this great idea that's been put into play and on his new role as moderator of Emergency Preparedness.

All of the above. To me, prepared is prepared, whether the emergency is a currency crash, earthquake, or day of the living dead (visit by the in-laws).

I have a lot of interest in this subject and expect to be in these threads on a regular basis, both as a contributor and to learn.

Is this for end of world preparedness/survival and zombie killing etc., or just basic emergency stuff.
Just opposite ends of the same scale. Start prepping for basics (first-aid, fires, storms) and work your way up until you're comfortable. If that means having supplies and water for 3 months (Katrina) or being setup to survive a global economic meltdown / zombie apocalypse and restart humanity, that's up to you.

It's interesting to see how many Hummer owners are interested in prepping for TEOTWAWKI (The End Of The World As We Know It) scenarios.

Great point! I'm amazed to see the amount of food, guns, and ammo some people will amass, yet they don't even test their smoke alarms or have a working fire extinguisher or first aid kit in the house. Start with the simple stuff that happens every day, like house fires, storm damage, or household injuries.

I've been so busy lately that I didn't even realize that this new section had been created. I couldn't think of a better person than Paladine to run this. Very few people are as well informed as he is. Thanks for creating it, and thanks Paladine for running and contributing to it.
