The concern I have is that these Chevy rims have a larger lug hole than H3 rims. I think 6 lug Chevy rims have an M16 thread while the H3's have an M14 thread. The special reason I'm jumping in to this discussion is that I have a set of Chevy wheels with some Wrangler tires that should be good for another 20K miles. I'd try running them on my truck if I could, but it's probably not safe because of the different lug size. I think my plan is to get these tires dismounted off the Chevy rims and installed on the H3 rims so I'll have decent tread for a while.

Late model Chevy 6-lug is the same as Hummer 6-lug. Both are 12mm x 1.5 pitch wheel studs. Both are 6.5" bolt-circle (or 139.7mm). The biggest difference you'll find is the center-bore. The H3 wheel requires a 4" (100mm) center-bore to clear the rather large hubs...something most other GM 6-lugs trucks don't have. I have milled out the center of some Silverado wheels, and they bolt up perfectly to the H3 once you open up the center bore. They look like this...

MORE INFO...

Toyota 6-lugs trucks also share this same wheel spec. and FJ-Cruiser wheels bolt-up to H3s and visa-versa. Some big Nissans do too (Armada).

Early full-size Jeeps and 70's & 80's GM trucks also share the same wheel spec...however these are usually 15" so they will not clear the H3 disc brakes. These trucks also use 1/2" SAE studs & lugs. Not sure if that requires a special lug nut or not, (this might explain the larger holes Mr_Rich was talking about).

GM uses 12mm studs & lugs on pretty much everything light-duty since the 80s....Camaros, Malibus, Monte Carlos, Impalas, Corvettes, S-10s, etc....regardless of bolt-pattern...4, 5, or 6 lug.

GM uses 14mm studs & lugs on heavy-duty trucks...all the 8-lug stuff (and possibly some police package Caprices).

Hub-centric? Total B.S. Not necessary.

Offset? I ain't going there.

I have a 2013 Silverado and it has M14x1.5. It's a 6-lug, 1500 series P/U.

H3, if my memory serves me does use the M12.

And torque recommended for my truck is 190 N.M, for my H3 is 140 N.m...

Correction on my earlier post. Chevy full-size trucks six lugs are M14 and H3's are M12. Still a big difference if you were thinking about swapping wheels (I was). I keep a 22mm socket w/torque wrench for my Chevy lugs and a 19mm socket w/torque wrench for my 3T lugs.

Hmmm...I stand corrected.

I do know that 2008 Silverado wheels bolted right up to the H3 once I enlarged the center bores. There were no issues with the size of the bolt-holes in the Silverado rims...stock H3 12mm lug nuts worked fine. I didn't actually see the donor truck they came off of, so I guess they could have been 14mm studs but, I would've thought that meant the holes in the rims would be larger. Perhaps 1500 trucks went to 14mm sometime after 2008?

Nope. They've always been M14 since I've owned my '89. I have late model Yukon wheels on my K1500 and I've been using late model Brembo rotors on the front for quite a few years now. I should take some pics when I get things situated. My BFG Rugged Trails are really getting worn down past the point of safety, IMO.

Wow! great info guys.

Hub bore is listed as 108...will this have a negative effect?
Or should it be negligble...
Secondly, how much sticking out our we talking?
So these are 14mm for lug nut opening?

Remember, the acorn (tapered) style nuts draw the wheel to center position.

Yeah that's only explanation I can come up with, as to why I didn't have any trouble. Regardless of the hole size (14mm or 12mm)...I ran 1500 wheels with 12mm studs & lugs with zero problems whatsoever. It must be attributed to the "acorn" shape making up the difference between the two sizes. It sort of scares me that I didn't notice this difference before but, all I can say is...it works. I think you need to check you're particular wheel & nut combo, and make sure the that the tip of the acorn doesn't bottom out against the rotor, before the wheel gets fully tight. That would be the only issue I can think of...and it would not be good. I assume the 12mm and 14mm lug nuts share the same taper?...sort of critical that they do.

off set 10mm

Approx. look of these will be?
Chris

I just installed a set of 17x8, with 10mm offset, along with 35s. They stick abit over 2 inches from stock setup. I have the stock fender flares which are 2 inches in size so they barely stick out of them. If the truck is levelled, the front wheels will tuck in abit more inside the fenders.

Btw this setup creates rubbing for me on the flares and mudflaps. I removed the mudflaps, but they still rub on the bit where the flaps held on to the flares. I need to level it up abit to solve this.
