After work on sunday I packed up and went up to gorman and frazier park for some wheeling and camping. The rules were no doors for this trip so it was time to ditch them. lost the 2nd spare and 4 doors for a total of 411lb drop in weight.
Its tough to see so I went to oriellys auto and got 2 mirrors for 30 bucks. they bolt right in to where the door is held.
After packing up it was time to head out. Initially it was just me and my buddy kyle in the red TJ and then I had the other kyle (one on our forum) and my girlfriend with me... (zach this one is for you! :finger:
)
unloading
Then it was time to wheel! We just hung out in the 4x4 area the entire time and kyle has pictures he will post up but again I was very impressed with how the H3 did and with how well my girlfriend did driving, she never drove off pavement before and walked right up the slab. bebe would be proud

she also did the sluice box with no issues
I did the sluice box the night before, kyle has pics for that and went all the way through and popped out at the quarter panel rock. My buddy in the TJ hit his rear quarter panel and I made it to that point but wasnt ready to take out my taillight. I need some armor first
I also did this obstacle in the pitch black, not sure we have had many H3s up it.
but my rock lights helped, 2 sets of 18 dollar walmart lights, these help so much in the dark. Still need to hide the wires nicely.
Then my brother finished work and got up to gorman at about 10pm and we started a fire, ate dinner had some smores and continued wheeling. Seeing is light setup in action is ridiculous, a 40in rigid bar, 10in rigid bar, 2 Dually D2s and his KC's lit up the world but it was tough to put him on right lines without rock lights. If you do wheeling at night you NEED these!
Then we went up to frazier and did the dry canyon trail, this was the tougher wheeling of the trip and really beat the **** out of my truck but it was fun and totally worth it! Kyle has pics for all that stuff. My buddy in his well built TJ and his dad were very impressed with how my setup did. I followed all their lines and we are setup similarly. one locker and 35s.
I remember a thread saying stock diff covers are pretty strong
I got wedged in between a few rocks and the only way to get out of the perdicament was to back up into the diff cover, I took my chances, its dented in but luckily didnt hit the ring gear. Gotta get ruffstuff to make there 3/8in cover for a 10 bolt. I will be buying one asap.
Ive done this trail spring under and got stuck a lot, I didnt get stuck this time but you can see the added clearance is very helpful. My spring sits 5.5in higher then stock with the short hanger and I still was dragging it all day, but not enough to get a strap. :thumbs:
Lastly, we chose a new turn off on the trail and it had two canyon walls and was like crawling through a notch, totally worth it!
Alright Kyle post up some pics!
It was a great time and I think kyle learned how much he needs to get his rock sliders to start running some of the tougher stuff.
My brother has a lot to of work to do to his JK. Both stock diff covers are gone, they are both dented and leaking, his oil pan is dented and leaking (told him to get a oil pan skid but doesnt listen!) and to get some damn rock lights installed so we can see below him not in front of him.
