I'm still undecided as of yet, stuff still going on that has to be taken care of first. If I can put it off for a couple of weeks then I'm still in for Marble Falls.

I am thinking about a Big Bend trip this fall, its way too hot down there between Memorial Day and the 1st of October to even think about! The Terlingua Chili Championship is the first week of November, right? Might have to plan around that!

That couldbe a fun trip Too far away to plan on yet but I might be up for that.

From everything I've read....

BigBend is still a great trip and one I'd love to make.

Just rember, safety in numbers, day trips only and stay in town at night.

Ok, I'm officially committing to go. I'll be there with family in tow, haven't decided if I will camp there or drive back up to the house in Killeen for the night.

Question for anyone who knows. On the Hidden Falls website it says you can download the Custom Maps app on your phone/tablet & use their trail map as an overlay. Does anyone know how to do that? I downloaded the Custom Maps app to my Android but could not get my phone to save the Trails map from Hidden Falls to use it as an overlay. The closest I could get was to save it as a bookmark which would not allow the app to recognize it as a saved file..

I figured this out on my iPhone 4 - if anyone wants, PM me your email address and I'll email the overlay file to you (it had to be meticulously cropped and adjusted to fit properly over the actual terrain). You should be able to open the overlay from the actual email on your mobile device and it should load into Google Earth (it's free, install it first if you haven't already). I know it works on the iPhone and iPad. According to reading I have done, it should work for the Android as well:

"Google Earth 6.2 for Android and iOS, which includes support for KMLs. Now anywhere you find a “Google Earth file” (KML file) while you’re browsing the mobile web, just click on the link and the Google Earth app will automatically launch and load the custom map."

Weather update:

The chance of rain in Marble Falls for tomorrow has changed from cloudy with a 40% chance of scattered thundershowers earlier this week to partly cloudy with a 20% chance of precipitation. The area hasn't seen rain since March 9th when they got 1.38in, which is the sum total of rain that has fallen all month. There could still be some nasty wet spots where water collects in shady places on interior trails, but the park should be pretty dry which is favorable for doing some tougher trails. I look forward to seeing everyone that makes it tomorrow - safe travels for all until then!

Cheers,

Chris
