Yeah, my wife's Tahoe has it, but it actually gives you an oil life percentage along the way, so you can see that it's actually working. Once it reaches 10%, it tells you that an oil change is needed. Usually comes up at about 7-8000 miles. Of course, the H3 ONLY alerts you when it's time to change the oil, so there's no real way to be sure that it's working. And if I go through the reset process BEFORE it has triggered, I have no way of knowing if it actually reset or not; it doesn't acknowledge a "reset" (perhaps that is different if it has triggered first?).

I ordered an Ultragauge MX which is supposed to be able to tell me the oil life percentage from the computer, so it'll be interesting to see that in action. I know mine went off not longer after i had bought it, I reset it since I assumed the dealer had replaced the oil and probably didn't reset the oil life.

The MX version does, not the EM Plus (the cheaper one). The MX version is similar to the ScanGauge in that you can program in codes to have it read manufacturer specific readings. The MX is $80 currently, the EM is $70.

Well, I gave the dealership a call today since I hadn't heard from them yet. They didn't get as far as he was hoping they would, but all the parts are swapped between the two motors that needed to be. He thinks they'll have it done in the next day or two so that I can have it back by this weekend. *fingers crossed*

Yay!! My H3 is done and I was able to get home from work in time to drive the hour to the dealership before they closed to pick it up. It's all shiny and runs great!

It's definitely nice to have it back. Wasn't able to go up into the mountains today though due to a birthday party we almost forgot about.

I did try to install my oil pressure gauge but I discovered I needed an adapter for it that apparently no one locally carries (M16-1.5). So I placed an order on Amazon for it and will have to wait until Tuesday at the earliest to get it installed.

I messed around with the Ultra gauge a little. It's going to take some time to figure out how exactly I want it configured and what gauges I want to have displayed. It did read the transmission temperature, though I think something is wrong with the configuration for it as it was reading it as 32 degrees Fahrenheit. It's reading the coolant temp just fine though, so I wonder if it's actually displaying the temp in Celsius. 32 C is about 89F, though that would have been too hot since I hadn't even started the truck today. I'll spend some time messing with it and see if I can figure out what is up.
