Ladder Mounted License Plate...

I did a rear bumper install on a customer's H3 yesterday. Among the extra mods was adding a DS D-ring, welding the spare tire studs to the bracket, and hooking-up his license plate wiring. He showed up at my shop with this cool license plate mount...never seen one like it. He's running a Gobi Stealth rack & ladder but, the plate kit was from some other manufacturer. The wiring was extended from the stock location into the rear door, then up the ladder to the LED light on the plate. Because he runs this bicycle rack, there was no room for the plate. Thought I would post some pics...

BTW...the bicycle rack is for a JK, and it is a Mopar piece available at Chrysler dealers. He had to drill the mounting flange to fit the 6-lug bolt pattern, very easy mod.

That's really cool! If you want to get picky, it's not 100% legal. I think Indiana states the plate has to be less than 30 inches from ground level. It is a really cool idea though and the chances you'd ever get stopped for it are next to zero.

EDIT: I was wrong...minimum is 12 inches, but the code doesn't state a maximum so you're good.
