Is there a way to program remote key fob at home?

Found this online. Havn't tried myself though.

Instructions: 1 Climb into the vehicle and close the door. Insert the key into the ignition but do not turn on the vehicle. 2 Hold down the "Unlock" button on the driver's door while turning the key to the right to the "Accessories" position. Continue holding down the "Unlock" button. 3 Turn the ignition key back to the "Off" position while continuing to hold the "Unlock" button then return the key to the "On" position again. Then return the ignition key to the "Off" position. As you complete this sequence, the doors will lock, and the horn will sound, indicating that you've entered the programming mode. At this point, release the "Unlock" button on the driver's door. Remove key. 4 Push both the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons on the key-less remote and hold them for roughly 15 seconds. Release the buttons when the locks click again. 5 Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position. The horn will honk once more. This indicates the programming has been successful. 6 Remove the key from the ignition. Climb out of the vehicle and try locking and unlocking the doors with your remote key.

I hope this helps,

Mike

I tried it all and the only way that worked was going to a GM dealer to get it done. Cost me $50 to get a key cut and the fob done.

There is no way to program a key in your driveway! Keys need to be programmed at the dealer! $50 bucks is cheap cost me $80 at a dealer here in Canada.

He was talking of a remote fob.

And yes, you can certainly program a key in your driveway as long as you already have one working key.

1. Insert working key, turn to "On" position.
2. Turn back to "Off" and remove key.
3. Insert newly cut key, turn to "On" position.
4. Turn back to "Off".

New key is now programmed, and will start the vehicle.

Since when do you have to program the H3 ignition key? I had a new one ground and it started up just fine without any special re-learn process.

I'm pretty sure you can't program a key fob on your own. Everything I found online says dealer has to and even All Data says must be dealer programmed.

I'm still waiting to get the key (fob) off eBay... But now that I'm aware it may be possible to do this I'll pull the trigger soon.

To program a fob takes the dealer about 10 minutes. All the tech has to do is connect the Tech 2 to the vehicle, navigate Tech 2 to the BCM menu, select key fobs program, and follow a few simple instructions on the Tech 2 and then test the fob.
I do believe if you have them program a fob, you also need to program all fobs for the vehicle, and the vehicle can have up to four fobs.
