Im from so cal, yucaipa to be more exact. I was a u.s. marine for several years. them a merchant marine for several years after that.Im not an idiot, and im fairly mechanically inclined. I listen when someone has something viable, and interesting to say or teach. and i can figure most things out. but all of that is in my maturity. growing up my step father was a certified master mechanic, whom finally retired from toyota as a well celebrated service writer. that dude could hear a car driveby and diagnose what was wrong with any vehicle, in micro seconds. but here is the kicker, i hated that dude so bad, id never listen to anything he tried to teach me. and he was always teaching, freely. my sisters can rebuild engines in their sleep. where the gas goes in.
now ive learned alot since then, mostly in the last 8 years. but i cant help but kick myself in the rear and the teeth for not getting over myself, and just paid attention.

A lot of us were the same way when we were young. The important thing is that you realize it now and have the humility to listen and learn. Never too late to change and learn.

Many of us mature later than we would have liked in retrospect. It turns out our parents were right much more often than they were wrong. Unfortunately it takes many of us a while to catch on to that. My kids are in their late 20s/early 30s. They are starting to experience the same.
