H3 HVAC Pin Conector

I know this is a common problem with the H3's and there was a great thread on how to fix it at one time... just not sure where that thread ended up.

My heat and A/C only works intermittently and you have to kind of jiggle the wires/connector above the passenger foot well area. Something about the connector melting.

Does anybody know where that thread went with the pics/explanation of the fix for this problem went?! Or can someone explain again...with pics... on how to remedy this problem?

It's cold in MN now and I need to fix this so I don't have to jiggle the connector every time I start the truck.

As a temp fix you can use crimp connectors.

The whole blower motor harness is short and actually as cheaper if not cheaper then most blower motor resistor pigtails.

GM
Resistor - #10397098 - $38.50 List ($19.83 @ GM Parts Direct)
Harness - #25867517 - $44.53 List ($26.40 @ GM Parts Direct)

ACDelco
Resistor - #15-80647 - $34.24 List ($18.50 on eBay)



Preliminary Procedure
Disconnect the blower motor resister electrical connector.

1 - Screw, Blower Motor Resistor
Tighten1.5 N·m (13 lb in)

2 - Resistor, Blower Motor


14 - Blower Motor

15 - Blower Motor Resistor

17 - Blower Motor Harness

18 - Blower Motor Relay

I have 2 Colorado's and both out of warranty, I spoke with my dealer in Conroe, TX and they put me in contact with GM. This is a problem with the design, I complained and they repaired under warranty. I guess they didn't want my garage to burn down.

I might give that a try....

It's funny at night when it's dark in the truck if I wiggle the wires I can see spark.

I swear to God if this thing burns up while I'm driving....

I'm getting an H2 SUT.

My wife kept complaining of a "electric burning smell" whenever I cranked the vents in my 06 and I thought she was crazy (and just liked to complain as usual). This ended up being the problem and yeah so many other GMs are known for it I don't understand why it isn't recalled.

Thank you very much for this info, i'm so confident that is the problem and i am going to order the resistor and harness before i even look at it.
