Hummer stereotype....

Anyone else on here have to deal with the constant Hummer Stereotype?

When I go meet with some of the local 4wd clubs its always the focus of the jokes
or
Co-workers call it a mall crawler and nothing else... those same people don't know what a locking diff means or the difference in a BFG M/T to a tuner car tire

Anyone else out there? or is it just me?

I probably deal with it most on this forum--oooh Twinmill likes chrome, he's a mall crawler and drives a minivan.
Wait, not a stereotype when it's true, is it? Then you a$$clowns wonder why I'm cranky all the time. Screw you :sigh:

Not so much with the H1s. I got it mostly with the H2s. Ignorance is rampant, you can't waste your time arguing with idiots. Just wheel it and show them.

My truck bears visible scars from many years of wheeling. Those scars means everyone can see that this truck is being used the way it was meant: for wheeling.

I *always* get "what kind of mileage does that thing get?" to which I always respond that I have no idea whatsoever :hans:

I rarely even get the mpg question, and never the mall crawler, dick jokes, or rich stuff. I get a lot of "how does it handle, what is the deepest water that you've been in" and comments about how easy it must be to find it in a parking lot.

to the MPG question it depends who I am talking to. if I think they are receptive and accepting of the truth I tell them the truth. they are surprised and say that's not that bad at all normally. if I think they won't be receptive and accepting of the truth I say "it's not the miles per gallon, it's the smiles per mile I care about."

At work, i had to deal with did your dad buy that for you for the first few months. I just replied no, "I spent over 10 years saving to get myself one."

for the price question, I only say I got it for a fair price. if they keep pushing for it, I ask em. "how much money do you make in a year?" pause and continue with "stuff like that is kinda personal right?"

My buddies in college would always rib me, but they didn't have anything against my truck. Jeepers on the trail are hit-or-miss. IMO, it has got more to do with the quality of person than the brand of truck. Some people just suck! :giggle:

The "small manhood" stereotypes are hilarious to me. I guess that by that logic every man who owns a Smart must be a relative of Ron Jeremy or something! I find that sometimes rolling with the punches is the best. Just check my license plate - I love to check in the side views at traffic lights to see the people behind me laugh at it. Once you just "go along with it" it loses all the hate and just becomes humorous.

How about "Yes, I have a small penis, but she stays with me because I'm rich, and the chrome stays off the trailer hitch "

-- sorry twinmill

No, I always park in one spot, just like all of the other vehicles. I do get a lot of strange looks, but I don't care. I didn't buy it for them.

Only had mine (H3T Alpha) for a few weeks, and have seen folks taking pics every time she's been out. Around here in the middle of cow country, I get looks like I just landed my spaceship on the road...

I get the must be rich one all the time. Then they don't believe me when I tell them that H3's don't cost that much.

Everyday, mainly kids at my school that don't know anything or that have built up trucks and do nothing with them. I guess I contribute because I don't stop talking about it, the T is a part of me... And I am part of the T (0.o). Anyways I love my truck and I know what it can and can't do so up yours kids at school!

Well I have seen twinmill offroad his truck. Chrome and all.
Of course that was before he defected from Utah and ended up in Florida. :shame:
