The wraps will definitely decrease the temperature from the exhaust pipes, but it is only a "band-aid" regarding the full skids.
We use a similar wrap at my work for freeze protection, but 650 degree fluid circulates in the daytime. Thats a great idea Art, thank you! I won't be reinstalling the skids until I'm satisfied I'm not cooking my tranny with the full skid plate.
I will gladly take possession of the skids if they bother you that much. My manual tranny would do just fine! :giggle:
Granted I only have 37.5k miles on my 06. For what it's worth![]()
37K on an 06?! I am so jealous!
This happened last night...

Wait till you roll 160k. Then we will talk. Still going strong though! Although a lot has been replaced
I am technically around around 104,000 seeing I put on 35s at 48k miles and for every 10,000 miles there is a 853 mile error. I really need the PCM tune to get the speedo and tach back to normal.
Tires will not alter your tach reading . . .
As far as speed, I use my ScanGauge. It has a feature to tweak the speed signal. I used the GPS in my phone to get my real speed and slowly altered the adjustment on the ScanGuage until it read the correct speed.
Yeah, I probably should get a PCM tune as well. Hard to justify with how well my truck runs.
Whoops I meant odometer...I gotta look at how you alter the scan gauge reading
I think that if you properly wrap the pipes with 1/2 the tape covering the previous wrap and dont leave any bare spots that will become "heat spots", the only problem would be with rust forming under the tape when it gets wetif you do wrap your exhaust make sure it is quality stuff since the exhaust tubing will get a lot hotter. in fact makers of Exhaust Headers sometimes void warranties when they are wrapped or coated.
