Mike, had a CV shaft (front driveline) failure and replaced it with a cheap Dorman. Worked well for a few months and noticed the rubber boot had split. Have since replaced it twice due to boot failure. Is Dorman the problem, or my installation?

How many miles were on it when it failed? I replaced the drive shaft CV on my Alpha maybe 1k ago and zero issues. Only thing I did differently was pack it with Lucas Red & Tacky II. When I put it together I made sure the boot wasn't being pulled tight. Zero issues with mine.

Boot failed in less than 1000 miles. Second one. I ordered one from another vendor, and guess what...they sent me an identical Dorman for $50 more. I installed the boot in the exact position as the original I took off. The inner rubber rib was just over the raised steel rib on the rear of the splines on the drive shaft. I did a torsion bar lift, but can't imagine that having an impact.???
