Mine should be here on Monday really looking forward to it, that old 2L coke cut in half bottle helped a lot but hopefully with this everything abiut oil changing improves by a lot.

I have used mine twice now and it's great! Too bad they didn't have a solution for a drip free filter change too!

X2 with you on that however a simple grocery plastic bag works just fine...I just loosen up the filter a bit...then wrapped it with the plastic bag and unscrew...and no more messes.

Do you cap the valve? So if the valve opened somehow, you don't lose your oil?

Nah It is not necessary but you could if it would give you a extra piece of mine so far I haven't got no problem with mine

I have seen no reason to do so, they do sell those little spring clps that prevent the valve from moving when its installed... it was two or three bucks, that's the route i would go if i was worried about knocking it out of place (I am not the Rancho crossmember protects is well!)

Great idea. I was starting to wonder if I make more of a mess changing the oil now that i have the valve because I don't take the skids off to get the filter out.

Do you cap the valve? So if the valve opened somehow, you don't lose your oil?

I think the cap could reduce the chances of dumping all the oil if the valve was accidentally opened but not a concern. The reason to use the cap is to keep the nipple from getting filled with mud.

I'm going back to the plug. It will take far less time than cleaning the oil from the underside.

I prefer a MAGNETIC plug (available from CORVETTE WAREHOUSE) torqued to 216 ip. . I have found that with the 5.3, driving just the right rear wheel up on a ramp causes the stream of oil to miss the crossmember with much less mess while giving a complete drain. Using the valve obviously leaves a small "puddle" of oil in the pan (probably not enough to make a difference, but it is still there).

Are you sure the oil came from the plug? I have had these on at least 10 car and trucks with no issues. They do make caps to cover the valve.

The oil stain starts at the plug hole and travels back. Look at the photo and tell me what you think. Less than 1000 miles traveled since the installation of the fumoto.

Looks like it is leaking around the gasket area and not the valve. Next oil change replace the gasket, they're cheap at every parts store.

I will have to look at mine, but yours looks clocked differently than what I remember. Sure it doesn't just need tightened or some thread sealer?

I always apply a small amount of teflon thread sealant. I believe that the drain plug is a straight thread and relies solely on the gasket for sealing. A bad gasket will easily leak no matter how hard you torque it.

You are correct, hence the need for a gasket. If it was a pipe threading then it wouldn't use a gasket.

I looked at the Fumoto website, looks like you did not install it with the valve in the right direction. Yours is a new style and the instructions are different the the standard 107 like I have. But definitely replace the gasket.

I realized later that you had the new style which was what threw me. I don't know what I was thinking with my earlier post, but the other guys were right-- sealant won't do anything on straight threads. The torque will matter though if it's not tight enough. I still think your on the right track-- get a new gasket. I really love these valves and have never had an issue.
