Fuel gauge reading low?

I think my fuel gauge always reads a little low. I fill it up all the way and then not very many miles down the road I'm already down to 3/4 tank. I get down to E very quickly. Sometimes I will drive on E for a couple days (maybe 50-75 miles on E). Then, I go to fill up and the tank only takes 27-28 gallons. I know mine has a 32 gallon tank. Is this a problem or am I just being picky? Any fixes? I don't remember it always being like this.

It does read consistently so I know it's not a bad gauge or sender.

Most of the GM vehicles I have ever had, drop from Full faster than they do from other positions. And I have run many miles on E.
However, if you off-road a vehicle, and you slam the fuel tank down on boulders a few times, you might drop your fuel tank from X-gallons to X-gallons. Example, the fuel tank shield on my H3 had a giant dent in it, that compressed my fuel tank and it lost about 3 gallons. When the shield was replaced, the tank popped back to normal configuration and I had my three gallons back.

I don't recall my fuel skid being pushed in but I will double check.

It could be your fuel sender, the float on the sender could have got damaged. That would give you a bad reading

I just thought that since the reading is still fairly consistent, I wouldn't expect it to be the sender. Also, another problem I noticed that if I park nose down on an incline say when my fuel gauge was at 1/2 tank, it would read slightly less when I went back to start it up.

I'll add that fuel sensors, on all vehicles, can get screwed up with fuel that might have a higher than average sulfur content. (EPA regs on sulfur content don't take full affect until 2017 or 2018.)
