Cracked front windshield replacement

Went and warmed my truck up tonight and came out to find my windshield cracked horizontally across the whole thing from a small rock chip. Just curious if there are any companies or brands that I should stay away from. And what companies are recommended.

we have a company by us, Good Shepherd Auto Glass, idk how wide spread they are. They are a christian based company so I feel like they cant rip me off lol. Ive used them on every piece of glass I've needed on restorations and regular use and they always seem to give me a decent deal, although I knew the company(different employees) from one of the body shops I worked at.

Just make sure they're familiar with H3s; I've heard horror stories about windshield replacement companies breaking the lower cowl (around the wipers) trying to remove it.

I had my windshield replaced a week ago, asked them to move the rearview mirror up an inch so I could see under it and not create a big blindspot. Very pleased with that mod.

I make a point of asking for windshields with the tint at the top. The tint was standard 06-07 and removed thereafter, sending GM's profits through the roof

Had one replaced on my '06 by Safelite. They did a good job and no complaints on the glass.

Thanks guys, had mine done today by safelite for $260. Had the tinted strip at the top added because I liked it from my 07. Seems like they did a good job so far, I will give a better update in a week or two.

Gonna have to get mine done soon, cleared the snow off and was driving down the road and it did the same thing. Guess its time being that its the original windshield from 06. Idk how its lasted this long to be honestly

I have progressive auto insurance. I know you can have this added on your policy like I did. It's called "free glass". Every Time I need the windshield replaced I just call up, no questions asked, no deductible and wa-la, a new windshield. I'm on my 3rd windshield in the last 2 years.

Not available in all states, though luckily I have glass coverage here in AZ.

weird, the text before my photo upload, in the post, didnt make it...
I wanted to say that USAA didnt want to pay for OEM glass because 'reasonable cost' for windshield glass is the cost safelite quotes for after market glass...
I spoke with Texas Department of Insurance and they said reasonable cost is defined between the policy holder and the insurer... yea, like that can ever be fair. So I caved and am getting aftermarket glass through Safelite. I dunno who I'm more upset with, USAA or the Texas State Legislature / Insurance Department; TDI even said 'the law is very prescriptive for most things but here [with windshield glass] its actually vague' .....

That's a really good idea when all you can see is the Slantback. If it wasn't for the rear camera display in it I'd have it removed.

You can usually opt to pay the difference to get oem, though really the Safelite glass is just fine. The tint strip shouldn't have been dropped, I had mine tinted when I had the front windows done. Using the visors leaves you with like 3" of visibilty.
