Checking interest in H3T subwoofer boxes

I traded my H3T a few months back before my warrant ran out. I kept the subwoofer box that I built since I had spent so much time on it. I'm sure some of y'all, like me, searched in vain for a box that would fit and sound good, so I had to get creative. Obviously nothing fits under the seat other than the little junky powered subs. Nobody ever sat in the middle of the backseat so I utilized that space to build a downfire box that looks like a console. This was no easy task because of the odd shape - front narrower than back, top narrower than bottom and top. After a lot of research, I settled on a Polk Mobile Monitor 8" sub. They have some of the best RMS power handling and low frequency response for a reasonably priced 8". I have to say I was really impressed with the sound. Granted it doesn't sound like a 12, but it is comparable to a 10. The box install is very non-invasive. It just sits on the floorboard and is locked in place when the front seats are scooted back.

I could just just sell the box, or if there is enough interest, I could use it as a template to make more. I could make them for $70 covered with carpet or $80 covered in vinyl plus the cost of a cupholder if added. I'm not sure of the shipping cost but ups ground should be pretty reasonable.

Sorry, the box is a little dusty. I had a Polk MM840DVC. The mount depth is 4-1/8", but I wasn't using the spacer so add about another 3/8". As you can see the magnet is really wide, so you could fit an 8 with a deeper mount if the magnet isn't as wide. The inside depth of the box is 6-13/16".

Nice work Bigbee, what was your total build time for the box?

Thanks SolidusJ. I don't remember the exact amount of time, but it was at least 3 or 4 hours. It was no easy task to make it fit - I put the sub in place with a spacer underneath, then cut and re-cut pieces of mdf in order to build around the sub.

Internal volume is .28 cu. ft. You can use poly fill if the sub requires more airspace. Polk recommends .35 cu. ft. for the MM840 which is why I used poly fill.
