Has anybody installed the E&G fender flares for the H3/T? I am curious as to how they are attached and how the install process was. Piece of cake/medium/difficult?

Feel free to post up some photos if you've got them.

Didn't take pics of the install, but it wasn't that difficult. Mostly removing the push-tabs (can't remember the right name) and bolts that line the outside of the wheel well, lining up the flares and putting the push-tabs and bolts back in. Easy. For the front of the rear fenders, you'll have to drill into your rear doors.

These are my H3 not a H3T, hope that is ok.
You can get them with or without mud flaps. With flaps the other pieces have a recess molded in so the flaps will fit in there. I like the front flaps but on my H3 the rears seemed to drag on steep creek banks I cross regularly so I removed them. They are tough though and I added a couple of SS screws. Not sure how they would work in the rear on the T since your overhang is different.

So you can run the ones made for flaps without them but it leaves a little gap.
Be aware also they will change the lifted look but of course the wheels still go up in there.
I have installed and re-installed mine, a couple of times.
I put a thread in here when I modded mine to clear the 35's.

Your T of course will be a different in the back.
This is about the extra fasteners you may need.
I found some at NAPA that are Balkamp 655-2388. They are the short ones that can be used where there is only one layer of plastic. I later found some longer ones at a Crow-Burlingame "Car Color" store which is the auto body division. They are AutoBody Master PM48782. These are probably the best in most places unless you find they are too long in some areas and will not pull the layers up tight. They have two slots in the head of the insert so if after you push down the locking button if you need to remove it they have some special pliers that will pull it up. Even with these you usually destroy them getting them out. The old school method is a flat blade screw driver, needle nose and side cutters. They will wear your thumb out putting them in. I used a dead blow plastic hammer on the ones I could get to. They package says they are for a Chrysler but my H3 doesn't care.
These are my weapons of choice.

This is the flare designed for a flap in the rear but with it removed. So deciding ahead of time if you do not want the flares will eliminate this gap.

Hope that helps you decide.

Ok, so I picked up a set for a song on eBay and was thankful for everyone's input.

I would rate the install around a "medium" difficulty (take that with a grain of salt...I'm not mechanically inclined), seeing as I had to do a little cutting to get the two front flares to fit with the BA bumper in the front. Also, some of the holes in the front flares did not line up properly with the existing holes in the fenders -- I don't believe the bit of snipping I did should have effected how the holes lined up. All in all, I'm happy with the end result. My buddy and I were able to get them on in about 2 hours...and that included a quick wash too. :)

Here's a few photos of the install...nothing too technical:

Cutting a bit off of the front lip with some tin snips and cleaning the cuts up with a razor blade allowed me to fit the flares with the BA bumper.

Then end result (so handsome):

Thanks very much!!

The last of the chrome to go will be the OEM wheels in favor of a set of OEM powdercoated wheels and then I hope to paint my grille Sonoma Red Metallic to match the body. That should just about complete my "Back to Black" transformation. :)

:giggle: I figured with a BIN price of half of retail, I would just grab it and forgo the risk. I bet it would have gotten bid over its original BIN price anyway! :whaa:

Haha, its funny how that happens. I listed a unused Goodyear RT/S that came off my spare with a 100 BIN and it ended up selling for $135 :shame:

Thanks Chris!! I was sort of skeptical at first, but heck, when you see something designed for the H3T, you BUY IT! ;) I figured if I didn't like the look, I could find them a good home on here.

That said, I really dig the new look -- so I'll keep 'em for the time being. :hans:

Yes, smart eBayers know when to bid and when to buy. I'd like to think I fall into that group of users. :)

I just didnt want to deal with the "one of the flares is used and scratched and the rest are new" thing. Figured I'd rather just pay to get em' new then have to deal with an ebay dispute. Glad it worked out for you, and they do look really good on Barney!

Yeah, the one had a few interior scratches and one odd small hole drilled into it, but its nothing you can notice if you're not up close and nitpicking...which oddly enough, even though I am a nitpicker, doesn't really bother me. Go figure... :giggle:
