H3 5 speed swap?

Have tried searching but can't find anyone thing about people swapping a 5 speed into an automatic. My tranny is slipping and hunting all the time now. And would love to get a 5 speed in there. Also I have the 06 adventure so would it's be good to swap the engine up to the 3.7 as well? I have about 5k to drop if it's do able or should I jut file it under my extended warranty which will put back auto

Most likely you will need to get a computer from a manual H3. Your best bet is to give PCM For Less and ask them. They do stuff like that. I would like to do that with my Alpha, but there was never a manual transmission version.

I think $5K wouldn't be enough for an engine and trans swap with a 5 speed. All the nickel and dime parts you would need would price you out of that budget. I've done enough swaps lately to comment on this. My dream swap would be an LS or one of the new V6's in front of my 5 speed. The AX15/ AR5 manual trans is strong enough to work behind a V8. It's just a question of getting the right mounts and adapters.

I would love to make that swap too...I hate auto tranys ..auto tranys are for girls that dont know how to drive standards...:HA:it always kills me to see a new vette with a flippin auto trany..what a way to just kill a great sports car...

Would a Colorado 4x4 with pedals interchange ?...if so , that would be like finding hens teeth too..most likely.

ps. if there are any lady Hummer drivers....take it easy ok....I am only kidding....:wf:

I think you might be able to keep a trans swap budget around $2500. Most of the parts like clutch, throwout bearing, pilot bearing you would have to buy new. For all that work you don't want to install used in those areas. You can probably find a new or rebuilt trans for under $2000. Colorado or Canyon parts would work for the pedals and clutch master and things like that.

I am not sure how well that would work. I know my manual H3 does not have any of the harnesses for the the auto, telling me that there may be other changes as well. You may have a slew of other changes, like the center console.

As long as you use a 3.7L out of a 2007 only it is a very easy engine swap. There is a huge thread over on the colorado forums about it.

As for swapping to the 5speed... I wouldnt do it. I own a 5 speed H3 currently and feel that it was not the right tranny for our trucks. I tried to swap to a NV4500 but the shifter is nowhere near in the right position to work (actually I have not found any transmission where the shifter is even close to the right position as the AR5 has the shifter tower all the way towards the back).

Have you thought about a 4L80E swap? Ive seen two H3s online that have had the swap done.
