Guys,

I hate to beat this old topic to death, but...

The tire shop I went to today to get my tires mounted says a 315/75/16 will not work on my rig they say the tires will rub the control arms and possibly munch (actually they said rub) a rear fender..

Are you guys 100% positive beyond a reasonable doubt that a 315/75/16 size will fit on a 2007 H3 Base with OEM rims ??

Just want to confirm and make sure I didn't get my info screwed up somewhere.. :no:

you will have some contact at full lock but don't worry. just turn back about a full hand width on the steeringwheel from full lock. tire shops are sometimes worried about the wheels being a half inch narrower than recomended, don't sweat that if it comes up. 315's since 05

I run the 315's on my 08 H3 with adventure package. There is only a bit of benign rubbing when making a tight turn, i,e, going into a tight parking space. I really love those tires. No highway noise, and awesome offroading!

It seems to depend on the brand of tire to a degree as well. The 35" Kelly's on mine rub the swaybar on full lock, but then the 33" Duratracs must have too as evidenced by the two swaybar rub marks. Funny, they only rub at full lock in fwd, reverse is g2g lol.

Rub at full lock is not an issue. Don't turn quite as hard lol. My stock tires on my 2 rubbed at full lock as do the 37's. just back it off a tad and not an issue

yea, find another shop. I run 255s on 7" wide stock wheels on my crown victoria (which is the widest recommended for a 7" wheel). I just had to sign a waiver stating that I know these are not factory sizes and I do not hold the shop liable for my decision to run larger tires.

I'll be ditching my aftermarket 17s for a set of oem 16s with 315 duratracs... Hopefully the local shops don't give me too much crap. May just take em the rims... Hope you get it worked out mike.

I was toying with ordering 315s yesterday from Discount Tire and the rep said he would not sell me tires in that size since I'm on oem wheels..... wtf?!

I didn't talk with a rep I just looked up the size and tire off their site and ordered...

Technically they are correct............ All tyres (tires) have a wheel width spec requirement (Min & Max) that the tyre has been designed for.

Most 315/75/16 tyres the min requirement is 8"wheel width. (H3 OEM wheels = 7.5")

They'll run with no problems... I solved the rubbing with some spacer adapters from motorsport tech... gives it a very aggressive look

I agree with humvee and all the other guys 35"s will run with some little rubbing but no problem. As well Motorsport bora adapters do make the rubbing a little less specially for the front wheels when making turns at full lock as well give your H3 a more aggressive look since the tires stick out a little more depending on the size of the adapters u decide to go with I'm currently running 1.75" not so much for the look but because I'm installing my rancho lift kit once my warranty runs out...Now, in a side note wheeling my new set of 35" this past weekend with Craig and other forum members. I discover that out in the trails the tires do rub a lot more when at mild, and full flex.i don't know if this because my tires are brand new or the style but, the sounds is not too nice, as well i popped out a total of 5 (both sides front an rear) of the plastic clips that hold your inner fenders...anyways I'm running the MTR wranglers with Kevlar, and overall I'm happy that I went with 315's

Stopped by the local garage that did the 35's on my Jeep he's busy as heck all weekend but said first thing Monday is a go... :thumbs:

$20 a tire, I didn't think that was bad..

at this point I don't care what it costs I just want them on :no:

U need at least 30 mm spacer or wheels with less than 10mm offset to stop the rubbing. Im running 10mm offset wheels (stock are 38 ) and i do get a shiny bit on the sway bar, although I dnt feel it when it rubs.
