I finally found my unicorn and it was delivered today. I'm super excited to have an H3T Alpha with the offroad package, but I already need some advice. Can you guys help me build the perfect (for my lifestyle) H3T Alpha? This will be my daily driver and my only vehicle (I'll be selling my H3 Adventure soon). I do light off roading occasionally, but nothing crazy. I already wanna change the rims and tires to a different size/combo. What's a good wheel/tire combo for this thing? 17's on 35's or 18's on 35's? Since this thing is a V8, do I need a CAI? I would really appreciate your guys'/girls' expert advice. Thanks!
Current mods:
3" Racho lift
Fox shocks
Billy Boat exhaust
20" XD's on 35" Nitto Mud Grapplers

I just added them as thumbnails. I couldn't figure out how to get full size pics on here (I have a new Mac computer-still trying to figure this thing out!).

I see them now.. Man that's a nice ride. You will truly enjoy it.. What is ur goals.. I have 20s on 35s and have not had any issues yet but I haven't been able to do the hardcore offroading like some of these guys.. I do plan on getting some 16x35s for strictly offroading as soon as its payed for!!!

3 things. welcome to the forum! Congrats on the new H3t and Congrats on the new Mac. So, if your going to be doing light wheeling id leave the tires and rims alone, i would add a new front bumper, winch, off road lights and maybe a cover over the bed so you can lock it up if you want to keep gear in there! And if you have any questions about the Mac, i can help answer those to since ive been using a mac for many many years! :)

Nice find. Lots of options with the V8. I have an Airdoc air intake and enjoy it. 35's on 17 are probably good. I have 35 on 16s, not a daily driver so I cannot recommend the best tire. you may want to consider a pcm tune. if you dont offroad much and half a rancho lift then you probably do not need to add any UCP. I have a billy boat exhaust, sounds good.

If you do light off-roading then I'd say opt for an AT tire as opposed to a MT.

Keep it as stock as possible for reliability and warranty purposes (Assuming there's warranty left). Stay away from after market air filters, some don't really filter the air very well, while the OEM tends to do a very good job and last decently long. -This is one of those topics where you will get a LOT of opinions so take your time to read up and educate yourself.

The one exception to my "keep it stock" recommendation would be to go get a ScorpWorks / Preferred Chassis Fab diff carrier bushing fix sooner rather than later.(search around here and you will find tons of information on that topic)

Thanks man. My goals are to take the factory painted grille and Predator brush guard off my H3 Adventure and put them on the T. I'd like to upgrade the speakers and possibly add a subwoofer in there. I love the sound of my H3's sub so I'd like the T to sound similar.

I appreciate your Mac expertise. I just may have to hit you up sometime for help. As far as the wheels/tires are concerned, I don't like the current setup (35x12.5x20). I think they stick out too far. I was thinking more like 17's or 18's on 35's, but IDK what width to go with. I want to put the OEM off road lights on the T (I like the way they look on my H3) or get a roof rack and mount lights on that.

Is the Airdoc legal in California as far as emissions/smog certification is concerned? Would the PCM tune help with gas mileage at all? Does the V8 really need a PCM tune? Sorry for all the questions.

Yes, that's the same one. I had to pull the trigger fast because I knew this one wouldn't last long. I got an alright deal. For the money I paid for it I would have expected this thing to be pristine. It's still in great shape, but I'm just super anal about my stuff. You should see my H3, it's unbelievable immaculate.

I'm definitely gonna go with AT's. The tires on there now are overkill. I've seen the long list of opinions on air filters on this forum before. It's pretty overwhelming. Why the diff carrier bushing recommendation? Is the stock one bad?

Nice, have pics of the H3? I may pick your brain if you don't mind, I just bought a black 2010 and I'd like to black it out as well.

One thing you have to kip in mind is that you can not get factory rim on the rancho lift, so instead of getting worrying about tires sticking out, maybe think about getting fender flares.
On the tire, if you do light wheeling look at the less agresive MT or cross bread of AT/MT tire. I personally have Duratrax and love it. It is aggressive enough and very quit on the highway.
On the air filter there are allot of options, just do not get oil based filters. This are not suited for the off-road at all.

My advice? Stop rubbing it in my face!!!! Kidding of course, but the couple "I just bought an Alpha T" threads has me wanting an Alpha. I stick by my opinion that the I5 is adequate, but I want more.

I'm not a fan of 20" wheels, even with 35s, but for light wheeling you should be fine and the 35s make the wheels ok. I'd go with ATs or something like Duratracs, and I'd probably try to get sliders and a UCP. I know you said light wheeling, but even something like a tree stump, fallen log or that one rock in the road you thought you'd clear can do some damage if you are not protected. Probably never needed with 35s and a 3" lift, but the T does have a longer wheelbase so your break-over angle is affected.

Beyond that, I'd probably just leave the engine alone for now, stepping up from the I5 to the V8 should be a nice bump. Some kind of locking storage for the bed (you'll soon realize how handy the SUV cargo area was), locking fuel door, fender flares, brush guard or winch bumper, the typical stuff. Ok, if it were me I'd have a new exhaust high on the list. Not because it does any good, but because I sometimes miss the sound of a V8 with an aggressive exhaust.

Yeah, I've got a Billy Boat on there already and I'm planning on a brush guard soon. Will the UCP for a T fit with a 3" Rancho lift or does that not affect the placing of the UCP at all?
