Got the PCM tune by pcmforless and now need a CASE relearn. Need one soon to clear the cel in order to pass state inspection in NYC.

Nearest GM dealer wants $150 and told me they are not even sure if the Hummer has a CASE! Or betters yet I had to explain what a crank angle sensor was to the service manager.

That's just tells me they don't know what they are doing.

Went to an indy shop which had a tech ii scanner with the option with CASE relearn but didn't see an option for i5 motor for GM. Not sure if that mattered but couldn't get it to start the process.

Any suggestions?

From what I've read the Tech II should do the trick and it shouldn't be more than about $85 from an independent mechanic rather than the dealer. I did the 'loaner' program, which was a little more expensive and took a little longer, but I avoided the CASE relearn in doing so. I'd call around and find someone that seems to know what they're doing.

I bought a separate pcm so had to do that.
My dealer did mine for free but I do believe there was a dongle attached just for the I-5. Whatever, they hooked it up, revved the engine up to some specific rpm for a second or two and that was it. Done.
It was over before I could see what happened.
Sounds like that dealer is at a loss to what is going on.

Might be able to get it done for free if you bundle it with any other work that needs to be done. Heck, even with an oil change they might do it for free or at least knock it down to a nominal charge.

Dongle? :giggle:
Probably the CANdi (Controller Area Network diagnostic interface) module). Most dealers must leave it attached to the Tech 2 since it is backward compatible.
