RKE (Key fob) Gremlins

So I have been having issues with the remote keyless entry fob not working. I had recently tapped the rear cargo area 12V to install some additional ports and a meter. The install went great and everything was working fine. A day later, the RKE would not unlock the doors. The panic button also was inoperable.

Troubleshooting steps taken:

• The fob battery was replaced.

• The H3 battery was disconnected/reconnected.
• The new 12V ports were disconnected.
• The fob was not recognized when trying to change the “RKE Feedback” (lock mode, then press both remote buttons)

So I figured bad fob, but on the way in from the parking lot of a store that sells reprograms fobs, I hit the lock button, and the doors lock. What the ?@?!$&??

So questions to the brain trust here…any suggestions?
Some reports on line of the rear 12v causing issues with the remote locking/working. Is the rear cargo 12v tied to the RKE system?

I can't tell you exactly what's causing the issue, but my fob won't work when I have my tablet plugged into the 12V accessory port in the dash. II'm assuming the tablet puts noise into the electrical system since it's only an issue when plugged in, not necessarily when the tablet is on.

When you talk about the new ports being disconnected, were all wires disconnected from the vehicle for the test or just removing POS or NEG?

BTW, the install looks nice.

update: after leaving the negative leads disconnected for a day, the key fob is working. I guess the "interference" gremlin has left the building...thanks again for the feedback

Don't feed them after midnight and you'll be fine.
