Whats y'all's thoughts on mounting lights up on my brush guard? Should i go with a light bar or mount two kcs up?? My bg has 2 pre drilled holes already and I'm trying to get some accessories for it. Besides lights what do yall suggest mod-wise. I don't wheel very often but when i do its only mud riding (no rock crawling down here lol) just trying to make it look like a bad ass rig! Thoughts??

Take it from me, I did it all backwards in the beginning.

Protection and tires first. (Ucp, rock rails, skids, etc). Then work on beefing known weaknesses up (ie bushings, tie rods, steering rack etc) then do whatever else you want.

Just my opinion and what I would of done had I been wiser. You may have done some of this already so some of it may be null and void

Yeah i understand your points at cgalpha, but i really don't go off-roading that much just because there aernt many places to do so by me, so i don't think that ucp is what i want at the moment. I have tires settled im running 33' mts that i just bought semi recently so thats no concern. I'm just trying to do some mods to make it stand out more (it's a yellow h3 so it stands out a good but already lmfao) or just some mods to make it turn some heads is what I'm going for. Side note: Radio wise what would yall suggest? I'm thinking of replacing the oem radio for an aftermarket touch screen. Suggestions on that would be nice. And what all i need to replace the oem one. Thanks

Get some halos, add a light bar up top and a 21.5" on the brush guard. That'll make your rig stand out.

Either light set up looks good imo... (2 KC's or light bar.) KC's are more old school as well as cheaper, and light bar is new school, and bit more unique... Even a light bar along the top like derian has looks cool and stands out. On the stereo, Crutchfield's website was where I went to get my stereo... (They package everything you need together and have fairly good prices) Just one warning... If you go to a stereo shop to get it installed, make sure they know exactly what they are doing and getting into... (Had to go to the same stereo shop 4 times because they kept screwing up, redo's didn't cost me a dime of course, and finally said screw you guys and haven't went back, stereo still doesn't work 100%)... and yeah Halos will change the look as well.

21.5" light bars are only 60$ on amazon, and get any radio you want, get a ?body adapter? To fit the radio Not sure what its called, then get a GM4004 wiring harness it will be way less then crutchcfield that way.

Wiring a radio is simple and easy, a bit easier than your lights that change colors.

All the lightbar's I see are on JK/JKU mall crawlers or lifted pickup's. Lightbar's are awesome if your the trail leader or you find yourself needing a serious amount of light during a recovery or extreme situation. You can't run them on the road, and I honestly see so many of them I find em tacky now. If anyone was to turn one of those things on behind me on a trail ride I'd stop and have a lovely conversation with em.

I'd grab a good set of Hella 500's (cheap and not to bulky of a light) and go with that for lighting, and put the $$$ towards a CB, or something more useful.

So some for some against... Derian i was thinking of going with just the white or blue halos like you had on yor old h3 not the colorshifts considering theyre really hard to put in correct? And then for radio i was looking at this one http://www.carid.com/boss-audio/boss-audio-dvd-receiver-38193145.html or this one http://www.carid.com/jvc/jvc-double-din-stereos-38189371.html should i go 6.2in or 7??

Colorshift aren't too bad the only thing thats different is wiring it to a controller, but my problem with them are that it's really hard to get a true white color. XB led's should be better than the ones I have. As far as the radio goes, just measure the stock one and see which is closer. I'm not sure what mine is, someone will probably chime in with the right size.

Also it's fine if you want to upgrade aesthetics over protection especially if you don't wheel alot. Unless you're throwing chrome on it, then you should be ashamed...

I think the best looks for the money will be halos, 50" light bar, and something simple like painting your calipers yellow. Spyder l.e.d. Tinted tail lights? Tail light guards? Just start somewhere.

Yep was looking at those spyder rear tail lights and the guards the halos i don't know if i should go with color shifts bc it would be a bitch to install or the one color blue ones I'm not planning on chroming it out im staying away from chrome lol but i know this isn't a popular opinion on this forum im going for looks over protection right now strictly because i honestly don't wheel that much... If i did it would be a different story

The install for the halos was simple, the demon eyes were terrible and I still haven't finished them. For the halos all it is, is stripping and plugging 4 wires into 4 holes.

im gonna get a 24" bar for my brush guard eventually. It'll be easier to wire there vs the roof plus its cheaper than a 50" and will do what i need it to for the trail

I do alot of night off roading. Everybody says the light bar doesnt affect their vision when I'm behind them. Those that don't have lights actually like that I can light up the trail in front of them. Now I don't know if it's because they adjust their mirrors or whatnot but no complaints yet. My brother is usually behind me and his led light bars do not affect me anymore than a set of headlights would.

I get the same reaction. People dont mind me driving behind them and they are happy that I light up infront of them.
As for outrunning the lights, Im thinking of adding a second 40" as I do out run them at night!

I'm mainly talking roof mounted light bars. Mounted low in the lower grill or on a bull bar aimed low are okay especially since our H3's have tiny rear windows anyways lol, but trust me be out on the trail in a topless Jeep, with several JK's behind you with a 52inch bar mounted just above the windshield frame and you'll either go blind, crash, or wanna kill someone by the end of the night. I got so tired of it, I ended up bringing up the rear and let them all pass me.

I love LED lights like the Rigid Dually's or JW Speaker 8700/Trucklite LED Headlights, but I am just not a fan of the light bars since it seems every mall crawler has to slap em on their rigs to light up the mall parking lots at 2AM for black friday lol.

If you want something unique that people notice (for looks) and at the same time it's fully functional get a G2 Aluminum Rear Diff Cover. It cleans up the ugly rusty OEM diff cover, and it adds protection when going off road and in LA you have a lot of cypress stumps hiding in the mud (at least all the ATV riding I've done near Lafayette). I have G2 Diff Guards on both my H3's and I get compliments on them all the time, and trust me the bare aluminum one sticks out very good along with the Bilstein 5100's on my Alpha.

Sadly, alas not everyone who owns a Hummer H3 can or will go offroading. Either the time, money or global positioning does not allow for it. Lol also some just like the cool factor of H3's and not the dust factor.
I'm inclined to just accept the fact each to their own and enjoy.

I don't think of my H3's as rock crawlers or mud boggers that are mainly built for one terrain or the other. I consider it more of an expedition vehicle. Unlike the serious rock crawlers or mud boggers I don't have to be loaded up on a trailer and taken home. I can jump in and go 75-80MPH on the highway, or get down and dirty going 1-2MPH on the trail.

I try to upgrade important bits and add functionality at the same time. Do I think it looks cool that my Hi-Lift Jack is mounted on my ARB bumper? No, but most people I run across think so. It's mounted there for ease of access vs fighting with that heavy thing on my rack and trying to keep my center of gravity as low as possible. When my daughter gets older I plan on taking wheeling trips say to Big Bend, Moab, Nevada, and Colorado just to name a few.

Everyone's needs are different and that's why no Hummer is a like (unlike 99% of all JK/JKU's out there). My wife's H3 is setup for mild off roading and being used as a daily driver. My rig is setup more for off road adventures or expeditions.
