thinking about getting an H2 SUT

So I'm thinking about getting an H2 (black, obviously, so I'll have a tactical match for my H3). I know they put in a 6.2 and 6 speed in 2008-2009, but is there anything else I should be aware of? Packages to look out for? Which ones have lockers and which don't? The adventure package seems like a waste of money to me. What else? Can I get front and rear lockers?

Also, if (when) I get one, any interesting build threads to look out for? I'm a big fan of solid axles so I may do that. Who knows.

thanks fellas.

All of the H2's come standard with a rear locker. Front locker was not an option, you would have to add it yourself.

Just a tad shy of 180k on my 05. Still runs strong, but has been well maintained and wheeled hard

I have a 06 H3 and a 03 H2, and would rather be in the deuce anytime.Looked into the duramax conversion, It's all about how much money you want to spend. The 6.0 is a great engine, and you can make it run pretty much how you want it too.

IMO the adventure package is not a waste of money, if you find a nice 2 with adv package don't let it turn you off.

I have the adv pkg and live it. Air bags are an issue. If it has the single stage compressor, that is too. Have broken a few left side sensors wheeling, but last fix was the fix of them all. Zip tie. Air ride is a great option. Plus you can air up with it. Although, 37's and everyone is waiting on you.

I too have the ADV package and love it. Yes the air bags are troublesome but can be easliy fixed, and if you want to tow anyting it make a world of differance. O yea and you can cheat your self out of trouble with that extra lift too.

I didn't know much about the 2's when I bought mine. I actually couldn't stand them, stopped by my regular dealership where I buy and test drove mine just for the hell of it and fell in love. Mine is a lux and I'm glad it doesn't have the air bags with all the issues they have. Although I would kill to have a built in compressor and fitting in the rear!

I have an 05 with adv and lux package, I bought it early in 2009. Its still on the original air bags and compressor and I have never had any issues, and thats with moderate off roading and towing a fairly heavy trailer now and then. Maybe I'm just lucky but I think the adv package gets a bad rap. New bags are not expensive when they do go out, the compressor on the other hand will cost a few bucks.

that's handy that they have a built in compressor. i'd probably get rid of the air bags and use the compressor to air up tires. how about the lux package? what is that?

The compressor isn't very high output so it takes awhile to air up a 37" tire, I usually use a portable compressor which is a tad faster and it saves the wear and tear on the onboard compressor.

As for the lux package it added navigation, chrome door handles and mirrors, door sills, Bose stereo, and I'm not totally sure what else...I never bothered to really look it up. I'd choose the adv package over the luxury if I had too, luckily I got both :)

Nav came with Bose and was an option. I have it in my adv. compressor does take a long time, but running 37's. Lux pkg also came with a chrome shifter, and a padded armrest which I do not like.

Love my deuce with the Adventure package. It comes in super handy when I'm wheeling at the mall and need to blow up new inflatable sheep....

Seriously, I don't recall seeing ANYBODY bitch about negatives of having an 08-09 model. Seems it all came together for the deuce by then. Of course you do give up the dash boobies, and really, who wants a deuce without those? Gives me something to do while I wait on my wife to run into a store.......

dash boobies???? now i never read anything about those before!

Kinda like driving by San Onofre power plant but on my dash. Might have to google the pic. But 03-07 had boobies on the dash. And you can adjust them
